you are missing the point the oppression is coming from western ukranians who are enforcing nationalist ideals upon the whole populous. Like i said forcing schools to teach in a ukranian language where noone speaks it comes to mind. Not allowing people to have dual citizenship so they could visit their relatives. Ukranians are the same as Russians there is no difference except geographical. The ones that live in west Lwov and past Kiev to the left are making all the trouble.

Hell it isn't my fault that in 1956 Khruchev decided to enlarge Ukrane and give it 5 or 6 Oblast(region) which traditionally belonged to Russia. Nikolaevskaya, Odesskaya, Crimskaya, Dnepropetrovskaya, Donetskaya etc...
How the hell do you get a 90% to 2% in both sides of the aisle for the candidates each set forth... without that being the case.

I see. The country is called UKRAINE, but it is oppression to force people to speak Ukrainian. It seems to me that people who don't speak Ukrainian should not be living in Ukraine. People who owe allegiance to another country also should not be living in Ukraine.

Are the people who live in Eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian or are they not? If not, then why are they living in Ukraine? If yes then why complain that one must speak Ukrainian or owe allegiance only to Ukraine?

It is not oppression to enforce nationalist ideals upon the whole populace of a nation. All nations do this. How otherwise can a nation defend itself from outsiders if some of it's citizens owe allegiance to another nation?

It seems that many living in Eastern Ukraine are unpatriotic to their country if they refuse to do these things.

oppression has been coming from communist russia for far too long. forcing the ukrainian language on ukrainians. wow, what horror. and holy crap....ukrainians are not russians, if they were, they would be be called russians. we have a different language, culture and yes...believe it or not, a different country. you can look at any map of europe to see this.

freedom and fair representation is not 'trouble', it is a write after you have voted for it.

ps....its lviv, not lwov. kyjiv, not kiev.

This PERFECTLY illuminates the history of Russian behavior towards Ukrainians. WE DON'T even exist as a people. They've been trying to destroy our sense of nationhood since Catherine the Great. And they are still at it.
