I think this is a Windows combo package - users get the Open Office Suite and Firefox browser for LESS than the cost of a Microsoft Office Suite!

no, this isn't interesting.

4 years after va linux going to what. $200 a share... nothing happended. No body in the desktop world really uses linux. Corel Linux is gone. Last time i checked Red Hat Linux Pro is $100.

there is no RAD tools in Linux. Kylix hasn't been pursuasive and frankly no body really develops under it. firefox is okay but the Browser was is over. The paradigm over browser has been shifted to distributed networking applications.

There isn't really that much you can do with the browser right now. Having a tabs, themes, and few others really ins't evolution. they are just gold plating and illusion of having done something that's not signiicant.

Until, Next Windows OS, we all just have to wait. Even then, there really wouldn't be any "new" technology that will enhance browser greatly.

by the way, Firefox doesn't not effectively block pop ups. Just go to drudgereport.com. you will get popups.

Only with Internet Explorer, you can blocked all popups.

Mozilla people need to clean up their firefox code and deliver a couple more minor versions before they start more talk about taking on Microsoft.

What we REALLY need is a good open source version of JAVA so people can do a workaround on the sites that use
(spit) Active -X (spit).

Our office would have already moved to Linux completely (small insurance brokerage) were it not for the folks coding web pages for Farmers, Progressive, and GMAC. They LOVE sticking those little scripts in there, and the pages won't load without it.

We are one of the largest area producers in all three of these markets, and I have asked them if it is legit to demand that their agents use products that are the equivalent of leaving their front door unlocked. Response is the typical bureaucratic posturing of "keep your virus software up to date, install anti-adware, and it is secure." Nevermind the fact that sp2 won't even work with their sites and we can't install it on our machines at the office.

Well, now we know what happened to Golden Eagle. Microsoft has outsourced its shilling to Indonesia or someplace.

I wish Linux well, after to fruitless attempts to use it as a desktop over several years. I would love to switch over, but I'm not going to beat my head against a wall again.

But OOo and Ff are already two excellent programs. OOo, in its beta 2.0 versions, is becoming very powerful. Ff with extensions is too. And both have just begun to fight.

why would any business that has any kind of a budget want to switch to an os & business suite designed by amateurs and/or part-time programmers?

if a business cannot afford the standard then it is understandable. otherwise it just doesn't make sense to go with something like 'lindows' that has to change it name every few months or years?

also, I looked into lindows a few years ago & the 'click-and-run' software that was mentioned was a subscription thing that required a monthly payment of something like $10 or $15 a months. Now is that a load of crap or what?

i had the opportunity to use lindows or linspire at a public library. it's bad stuff. if i were microsoft i wouldn't worry.

on my pc i recently downloaded firefox because often explorer would say that a web site wasn't available. trying again, it would work.

now, the same thing happens to firefox.

so what gives? i have a new 64mhz 'puter.

I'm using Firefox right now and have been using it or Mozilla for months. It works great and does block popups smooth and efficiently.

Neat. Selling free software. Netscape jumps to mind.
