CARTAGENA, Colombia - President Bush said Monday that he hopes Iran’s claim that it has suspended uranium enrichment and has no nuclear weapons ambitions is true, but “there must be verification.”

Iran must “earn the trust of those of us who are worried about them developing a nuclear weapon,” Bush said at a seaside news conference during a four-hour visit with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

Iran probably bet more on a Kerry victory than we realize..Look, we know that Iran is scerewing around..continuing to try and rush construction of a nuke..The problem is NOT how soon W jerks the leash on them..the problem is will the Israelis wait even that long?..I doubt it..

I think things are too far out-of-control for the Israeli's to make short work of, ken.

Disagree, annie...they have every site located, and have agents in place. They can't afford not to. One bomb makes Tel Aviv disappear...The danger for Israel is the "Gotterdammerung" theory. Hitler wanted to desolate Germany and Europe, even in a losing effort. The mullahs, if the regime falls, are crazy enough to want to go out with a big bang ..in Israel..The IDF just bought several hundred J-Dams....why, you ask?..

I realize what a danger they are vis-a-vis Iran, I guess I'm just not convinced they could do this with the ease they did it in the past. I have no doubt it would also result in world war....with most of the world siding with ABI (anybody but Israel).

It won't be easy..but there is no alternative. Pre-emption has been the IDF doctrine for decades. IMHO, if Israel decides that it has no choice, that it musyt act, then you will see joint actions with the US to take down the regime. The mullahs, and the theocracy, are very UNPOPULAR witht he peopel..it's a rotten house of cards..and one good push will bring it all down..start the revolution from within..The Mullahs know this..which is why they're pushing so hard..

Yes, I'm aware of the sentiment among the youth in Iran. However, I expect the rest of the world will not let the will of the Iranian people/youth stand in the way of their continuing campaign against the state of Israel. Just the U.N. alone will be apoplectic.

UN is in the process of killing itself. I think you'll see the House, when they return, introduce a bill to cut off US dues if they don't come across with the documents, and the officials to testify, before Congress about the oil-for-food mess. And the UN is looking for a $2 billion "loan" from Congress to build a new HQ..hello..that ain't gonna happen..even NYer's aren't happy about the UN taking the land

Re Israel.they really don't give a fig about what the rest of the world thinks..when it comes to there own existence..they are responsible only to themselves..

enough to pound each known target with 10-15 direct hits.

The iranian AA missiles won't even get off the ground... and their fighters will be swatted like flies via EM pulses...

It's over for Iran... they just don't want to lie down and take it...

Without replacing Kofi, ElBaradi and completely reforming the IAEA we're headed for a nuclear Iran.

The history of both U.N.'s and Euro's failures, appeasement and corruption which has led to weapon's proliferation should completely negate acceptance of any deal they broker. The only reason I can see that the Iranian's have so far agreed to the deal is the Euro's must have dropped any demands for unannounced and complete, unprohibited access to any site within Iran.

What needs to be remembered is the IAEA only stumbled upon Iran's program after having their nose's rubbed in data from Libya and Khan's network uncovered by the U.S. and Britain.
