I thought this guy was a bag of excrement when the story broke; this egotistical piece notwithstanding, I have seen nothing to alter my opinion. If he isn't beaten to a pulp someday by a Marine, Kevin Sites will be one truly lucky woman.
He probably realizes that this is the last job of this kind he'll ever get.
This guy Sites is a friggin' liar. You can hear on the video tape that all he said was, "These are the same guys from yesterday."
He did not say, "...they have been disarmed, treated and left here." Perhaps if he had, the shooting might not have happened.
Plus, he knows damn right well why he is being seen as an anti-war activist. He knows and we know.

He still does not answer the question why he withheld information from the Marines on the condition of the Iraqis in the mosque until after the shooting had stopped.
The blood of the dead Iraqis in the mosque is on his hands and he knows it.

We're winning the ground war in Iraq, but we seem to be losing the information war -- the Arab press has seized the initiative, and they're kicking our ass daily.
I'm not sure what we're going to do about it. I know a lot of you want to heap abuse onto this one guy, but we need some better ideas also.
It seems like we need some new tactics for PSYOPS, public affairs, and/or civil affairs -- some new ways to help us retake the initiative in the information war.

What a bunch of crap. It assumes that a Marine shooting some guy is news, when the entire city of Fallujah is engulfed in combat. Pure Barbra Streisand. I understand that this guy is no tye-dyed pinko and I'll bet that he kind of regrets what he did, but this is lame excuse to justify his actions in giving this film clip to the media pool. By now, anyone knows that close-up footage of Americans killing Arabs - especially ones that could be deemed unarmed, non-combatant, wounded, etc - will be exploited by our foreign and domestic enemies.
This is what people mean when they say that one man can't accomplish the mission, but he sure as hell can screw it up.
