What the hell was this guy shooting with an SKS? IIRC, thats the kind of rifle the chinese used before they got AKs. I dad has one and they're a cheap semi-auto rifle.
How old is it?
I've got one, but it's an older one before they starting stamping them out in mass mass production.

What the hell is your point? Would you feel better if he
was using a Browning Semi-Auto 30-06? Sks are actually
less powerful and shoots the same way! Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,
Bang...
The SKS is more like a carbine. It is not a long range rifle. It can be good out to a couple of hundred yards. It uses a small cartridge and is good in the forest and in city combat. I know several guys who hunt deer with them. I use mine for target shooting.
Really? That's interesting. We do have some house burnings and shootings going on in the Twin Cities that are due to communist Hmong.
The SKS was built by Simonov to act as an intermediate range carbine. It's name means literally Self-loading Simonov Carbine. The AK came a few years later and as a result the new gun was phased out but the ammo was kept.

It is coyote ugly, 10 rd. fixed magazine, but is also a simplicity itself never fail piece. It started life as a larger (20mm I think) anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapon. Siminove (sp) the inventor, simply scaled it down into a damn fine infantry weapon during WWII. It preceded the AK-47, both utilize the same 7.62x39 round. (123 grain pill at approx. 2300 fps)
