I don't gamble because I fear and hate losing far more than I enjoy winning. However, in the last 14 months I've bought a new SUV and a new boat, both for a substantial amount of money. If Bennett gets the same amount of pleasure out of gambling as I do out of my big toys, I don't see why there is anything immoral or wrong about him doing it, provided it doesn't become an addiction that jeopardizes his welfare and his family's. As long as it's covered by his very large income and is no more than he might spend on some other form of recreation, what he does is up to him and nobody else's business.

That's why liberals are liberals..so they can do whatever they want and not have to ever be held accountable for it.

That really is the root problem with the democrat party today, it is run by liberals who say and do anything because with them the "end always justifies the means" mentality, even if that means giving up principles they hold to.

People see though that like a plane of glass and don't trust them more enough to be put in powerful positions.

Citizens like to think that principled adults are in charge tha can be hold accountable when they fail, as people do all the time.

Please cite to me anywhere where Bill Bennett claimed that Gambling was a vice.
Bill Bennett never said gambling was a vice nor did I imply that he did

That is not the point.

Sorry but that is the most torturous bit of rationalization I think I have ever read. Come on you are smarter then this.

What his political foes think is irreverent. To accuse him of hypocrisies when he has never said word one against gambling because OTHER people think gambling is vice is just dumb.

What Liberals do is ignore the distinction between the message and the messenger.

When they point out the flaws in the messenger, they are actually rationalizing why they ignore the message. The messengers, they reason, are hypocrites, therfore, the message is flawed and hypocritical as well.

When everyone's message is thereby demeaned, they can then in good (no) conscience, live a life with no message, and do what "feels" good now.

So when a Liberal points out that somehow the messenger is flawed, simply steer them back to the Message.

"Isn't "Trudeau" a French name?"

- Trou /d'eau - translated into English literally means, "water hole".

I haven't read a Doonesbury strip in many years. The only exception has been the few times that I have seen them posted out here.

I have always believed that a comic strip is supposed to be funny. Doonesbury is like Amadeus. He requires too many notes, and I can not recall ever seeing him as funny.

Another "Gary," Larson (Far Side) was on the other hand a genius. Demented, but funny.

Anyone hear that Jane Pauley is moving from her afternoon show to one of the "Dateline" programs???? Is she replacing someone or just piling on?

I was unaware that Trudeau walked on water. My it is so common (and so easy) to be sanctimonious.

Feeble attempt by the left to assert/capture "morals" (you know, that thing that all the talking-heads say lost them the election). Er, no, sorry doonesy, it's about liberal activist judges (and the aclu) trying to shove gay marriage down our throats. Also, the Supreme Court and their stupid affirmative action decision, not to mention their stupid Texas sodomy decision. It's not about Rush or O'Reilly (who some don't consider to be a conservative, anyway).

By defending Bennett's gambling, O'reilly's vibrator and Rush's opium addiction, we are just doing what Clinton says: sex with Monica was private, had nothing to do with job. Doesn't fly. If we tell Americans we are the party of values than our leaders must be flawless. Otherwise we are Clinton phonies.

By the way, why does O'Reilly play with a vibrator? What the hell is he doing with it? Is he putting in in unsavory holes? Is he do it yourself homo? I just don't get it. A woman with a vibrator, I get it. A man with a vibrator? Don't get it. If anybody knows, enlighten me, we are grown ups.

He is on the board of directors of Trudeau Institute which is a research lab which also breeds and sells sterile mice for lab experiments nation-wide.

Gary wouldn't want the buggers getting preggers after he's done with them. No evidence that way.

First of all, I'm not accusing Bennett of hypocrisy. Trudeau is.

My only point is, which I know you are smart enough to figure out, is:

Bennett is a known gambler, Bennett also speaks for the conservative side, some conservatives think gambling is a character flaw, which means when Bill Bennett speaks, those people may not think he's what he is saying has as much meaning, because they don't see the plank in their own eye.

I'm waiting for a Doonesbury cartoon about Jane Pauley's mental illness and the absurdity of her hosting a program that is billed as mentally stimulating.

I have the panels ready, Gary. Two panels have her in a manic state, smashing your head with furniture (maybe a scotch and soda spilling from one hand). Then there are two panels in her depressed state taking coke to rev herself up while lamenting the world. Then the final two panels discuss her past and why she gravitates toward an abusive character like you, Gary.

Probably be as funny as your typical strip, which is...not funny.

Gary Larson's Far Side

Deer with a bulls-eye on his stomach. His buddy looks at him and states: "Bummer of a birthmark, Hal."

Which as I just pointed out to you is the most torturous bit of rationalization for an indefensible position I have ever heard in my life.

Let's try this. GT and Doonesbury has been a propaganda mouth piece for the far left for Decades. He postures as a defender of the poor and powerless. Yet he lives a life of enormous wealth and privilege. Most people on the Political Left think living a life of wealth and privilege while posturing as a spokesman for the "average guy" is hypocritical. Does that mean that GT is a hypocrite?
