I agree Central... that is a simplistic world.

Seeing morality defined as black/white is fine with me... I do it myself... personally looking for any moral leadership or guidance in todays society is FOOLISH, and I will not do it. All men and women will fail to lead a blameless life... we can only look to Jesus to provide the true example.

I listen to Tammy to both grow and challenge my political beliefs, and believe she has a unique perspective to add, simply because of her background.

To immediately dismiss her views as those of a sodomite and therefore irrelevant is odd. King David was an adulterer, a sexual act as far from God's original plan for sexuality as homosexuality, and yet I do not ignore what David's life and experiences have to teach.

In order to accomodate new information one has to keep an open mind... that doesn't make anybody a liberal, and it includes questioning everything you were ever taught was right, honestly reassessing it, and keeping it or discarding it. Sometimes we get it wrong, sometimes we don't... but you're no better than a hypocrite leftist if you think you have the monopoly on "morality".

ah, now I'm getting cranky.

What amazes me is how many "conservatives" drool over every word Rush puts out, and do nothing but defend him as if he were some kind of savior, when all he does is schtick. He is a DJ that found a niche and filled it, he does a good job, but I don't listen to him, the guy is a hypocrite.

At least Tammy is up front about her life, she saw the hypocrisy of the radical left and changed, good on her!

As for her lifestyle, well, its hers, and I respect that, she has a great mind and does a good show, one with substance, not the blather that the Limbaugh show has become...

Can you believe, though, the number of Freepers who DEMANDED that John Kerry be ex-communicated for his PRO-ABORTION views, yet TAMMY BRUCE is PRO-ABORTION and a LESBIAN...and the Conservatives FAWN over her!!

There is one additional factor to be considered. Two persons may be equally in the wrong, at the moment, yet they may be moving in different directions. If Tammy Bruce, a former doctrinaire liberal, wants to take a step or two in the conservative direction, I'm willing to work with her on the issues which we now agree upon -- while still resisting the stuff she's wrong on (abortion, etc).

Whereas Kerry is purely, wholly wrong and shows no interest in moving to the right position on anything.

Also, it's worth pointing out that Bruce, though a lesbian, doesn't believe in forcing "gay affirmation", gay "marriage", etc, down the rest of our throats by force of law. She's gay, but she's not a gay ACTIVIST. Thus, an accomodation within the earthly (though not heavenly) civil order is possible with such a person.

RaceBannon: “According to the example of our Lord Jesus, if we truly love someone, will we tell them what they need to hear even if it offends and hurts them.” I certainly would agree that homosexuality is sinful and can lead to destruction if not overcome. As for Tammy, you who are without sin, cast the first stone.
You are obviously well versed in theology, but obviously you have not, and probably will not take the time to read “The Death of Right and Wrong”.
I am quiet sure you have encountered pontificators, who have not turned one page of biblical scripture, yet will endeavor to explain the mind of God. I say this in Christian love, do not be guilty of the same ignorance, by condemning Ms. Bruce without having sufficient knowledge of what she advocates. “She is a public abortion supporter”. If you are so sure, then perhaps you will quote her words so that the rest of us can be as enlightened as you are? “People who endorse these things”, what “things” specifically does she endorse? Before you demonstrate your “knowledge” you might consider reading what she has written on the subject! Then you might want to give us quotes, as you have so ably done with Bible verses?
You’re narrow view of Ms. Bruce is evident by the fact that you suggest that someone supports her because she is for lower taxes. It is obvious that you do not know all of what she advocates. I can assure you that after reading “The Death of Right and Wrong” you will have a broader understanding of what Ms. Bruce actually advocates. I suggest you inform yourself as a journalist. It is your duty to know your subject before you decide to render an opinion on it.
On the other hand I must agree with you on one point. It is wrong for pastors and congregants to support a candidate like John Kerry because of his economic policy. It is doubly wrong. Firstly, Kerry’s economic policy does not benefit the poor and disenfranchised, and secondly it is my belief that a Christian should never put his economic interest ahead of his Christian values. So next time you speak to your pastor or fellow congregants, ask if they placed God’s values above their own selfish self-serving interests?
Thank you for the general lesson in Christianity. Now can we be more specific and to the point?
It is indeed foolish for us to question the depth of another person’s spiritual commitment. We should remember that even a gays or lesbians are believers. Some of whom have suspended their perverse sexual attraction. Some of them, like many of us, are engaged in an everyday battle between their particular sin and the God given desire to overcome it.
We are praying for Tammy’s salvation and welcome her into the brotherhood and sisterhood of Christianity.

You are knowingly defending someone involved in a wicked sin, and you are promoting her by supporting her.

Your actions cause others to excuse or ignore her wicked sin by your own actions in supporting her.

You are in great error and need to repent.

While you claim she is doing wonders for the cause of conservatism, since you claim to be a Christian, I will state that you are doing brings harm to the cause of Christ by defending a lesbian all for the sake of politics.

You are narrow in your thinking. I condemn the sin but not the sinner. What is your sin? Or are you the only person on earth who is without sin? Let us not puff up with self righteousness and be full of condemnation. You are not only now condemning Ms. Bruce, out of ignorance, but I might add, you are condemning me now.

Let me be concise. You are lazy, in that you do not take the time to inform yourself about matters you know nothing about. Apparently your teachers have taught you to be very judgmental and have given you a very simplistic understanding of God's word. I happen to avoid that type of condemning Christianity.
This will be my last communication with you. I do not have time to idiotic discussions about Christianity.

And you know what?

Mussolini made the trains run on time.

Glad to hear you would defend him.

No, really, that is what you just said you would do, I condemn the sin but not the sinner.

Since you insist on continuing this inane diatribe, I will give you the common courtesy of a reply, despite the fact that I have already said that I do not wish to continue conversing with someone with such a closed mind.
I will get flamed for expressing such a bold opinion, but I am critical of Christians who condemn homosexuality but do not vote. To my way of thinking that conduct supports homosexuality, immorality, pornography and other sexual vices much more than my saying that Ms. Bruce, a homosexual, is a clear thinking person with great personal experience and insight into the liberal gay radical mind and agenda.
Many professing Christians vote for democrats, which IS supporting immorality, as any well-informed Christian would tell you.
Let me speculate on why a Christian might vote for a democrat. They do it because they are ignorant about politics. They listen to ungodly people on liberal television and radio. They believe the lie that democrats will line their pockets with money. There may even be pastors who seek large collections on Sunday, who support democrats because most of their congregants are not rich, and these misguided leaders have been misled to believe that the poor would be entitled to more handouts from the government. If they place their own economic interests in the way of supporting Christian morals, they sin.
For those professing Christians who are rigid, ignorant of everything that Ms. Bruce is, other than that she is a lesbian, consider this: We love the sinner by being faithful in witnessing to them of the forgiveness that is available through Jesus Christ. . http://www.gotquestions.org/love-sinner-hate-sin.html
Many Christians are now writing Ms. Bruce offering her the hope of salvation along with loving, tender messages of acceptance. I believe that she knows that her sexual perversion is not good. If you take the time and effort to read her book you may also agree.
A true act of love is treating someone with respect and kindness even though they know you do not approve of their lifestyle and/or choice. Id.
I do not approve of Ms. Bruce’s lifestyle, but I do not approve of any sinful act whatever the nature of it might be. For example, the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. There are some individual Christians who have a medical condition which makes it impossible for them to control their weight. I pray for healing for them. Others are gluttonous. They simply eat too many donuts. They do not exercise. They are slothful. They are not being good stewards of the body that God has provided for them. I venture to say that there are a great deal more obese Christians than there are gays. If you exclude all gays, from your congregation, then put a weigh scale out in front of the church on Sunday and reject anyone who is more than 25 lbs overweight. How many congregants would you have left in your pews? I do not mean to dwell on the sin of gluttony, but it is a common problem that is easily overlooked. I do not condemn anyone who is overweight. Many good people simply cannot afford food that is not loaded with carbohydrates. I would never tell someone who is overweight that they are sinners. That is not my point. My point is that if you want to be so legalistic, then consider the sin in your own life as well. It is not loving to allow a person to remain stuck in sin. It is not hateful to tell a person they are in sin. In fact, the exact opposites are true. Id.
I do not approve of the sin in my own life, yet my flesh struggles with the spirit to raise me to a better life through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Ms. Bruce’s sin is one of sexual perversion, the sin of Christians who condemn her every thought, who would ostracize her from their churches and dinner tables, in my opinion are sinning as well. Would Jesus associate with Ms. Bruce? I think so.
(Luke 5:29-32) Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. {30} But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" {31} Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. {32} I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Id.
The modern day Pharisees are those who condemn us because we associate ourselves with Ms. Bruce by praising her for condemning radical gay activists. These modern day legalists, do not have the faintest idea what Ms. Bruce has written and said about radical gays. They are hollow clanging symbols, weak on knowledge and strong on condemnation. It is not enough for us to study scripture, especially when it puffs us up. We must not be wise in our own conceit.
I would not mind an intelligent well-informed opinion that condemns Ms. Bruce for what she advocates, but what is wrong is to assume that because she is gay, she has no redeeming value. I’ll try to be tactful here: God may differ with such narrow-minded drivel.
Unless and until you have read Ms. Bruce, I for one do not want to discuss her opinions with anyone so uninformed. It is also my opinion that Christians who are legalists, and narrow-minded, who without more condemn every gay because of their sin, turn possible converts away. Of course homosexuality is a dreadful sin, but if someone is going to Hell, they have a much more serious problem that needs to be address by we Christians. I voted against gay marriage, against homosexual preferences. I voted against teaching children in elementary school that the gay lifestyle is an acceptable alternative. Jesus came to save the sinners, and not only you, your family or the members of your church congregation or bible schoolteacher.
If you do not intend to read Ms. Bruce’s books then I must ask you in all Christian love not to communicate with me on this subject again.

The only one who insists on this diatribe is you.

Now, just go away, you lost the argument.

I am very embarrassed to be a Freeper after reading some of your comments. How foolish. This woman has one of the most brilliant lectures on group think, which I think all of you are suffering from. Some of you sound like homophobes. If a lesbian was hit by a bus, it sounds like many of you would laugh. Very unChristian in my view.

So be embarrassed. That is your own pathology. Tammy Bruce is unapolagetically pro-abortion. I would hardly call that "brilliant" by any stretch of the imaginaton. A mind without a soul is useless. I don't care who she sleeps with.

I've met her and I like her. She doesn't push her sexual preference on people and is disgusted by the radical gays. Many of her ideas are the same as ours. As a former L.A. chapter NOW gal, she is a powerful ally on our side in exposing them.

I don't know how I got on your bad list. The only time I have been in this forum is when you sent me a reply raking me over the coals for saying things about Tammy Bruce.

To set the record straight - I don't know who Tammy Bruce is and could care less what she may stand for.

As for you? I think you are a sloppy FReeper and should think before lashing out, buckwheat.

Thanks Torch. Had to check back on what was written some time back. What hurts is that a few people with the RaceBannon's attitude tend to push move many in the middle ground from voting our way. The Rigid Radicals feel that everyone should be like them. I guess they are anti Jew, anti agnostics, anti everyone unless they go to the same church and believe in the same religion. The Republican party is a POLITICAL party, not a religious group. It treats ALL people with equal dignity. RaceBannon is typical of the Taliban wing of our party.
