Yep, the more I read about this judge, can how much he cares about the charges in his court, the more I'm willing to defend his actions.

The more I read, the more convinced I am that he's nuts. He turns the courtroom into some kind of gameshow with his 'stump the judge' game. He's a real barrel of fun until someone passes wind or their cell phone goes off, at which time you're sentenced to 21 days in the pen.

Then he explains his philosphy that sending someone to prison is like "sending your daughter to her room." ... ??

No, sending someone to jail is not like sending them to their room. Jail is serious business. There are probably thousands of other people walking the streets that deserve prison more than the cellphone violaters. If this girl had the means to get a semi-competent lawyer you can be assured that this judge wouldn't be able to treat her like dirt.
