"This is down right scary sh*t. "
What's just as scary is that people are defending this guy. If I was convicted for everytime I forgot to turn off the cell ringer I would have a lengthy criminal record by now.
I suggest you leave your cell phone at home the next time you're in a courtroom.
Talking is not allowed in court. Reading books and newspapers is not allowed in court. Cell phones and pagers are not to be used in court. If you feel compelled to do any of these prohibited activities, step into the hall.
And now the truth comes out.
The folks who don't have the manners to turn off their damned phones are the ones defending this insolent little druggie.
The judge was well within his rights to do what he did although I personally think the sentence was a little harsh, it does send a message. These self-absorbed little egotists who need to be yacking their nonsense into a cell phone all day have to be shown when their rudeness affects others.
Way to go judge! Glad to know you are a Republican.
People like you really shouldn't own cell phones.
What's really scary is all the people on here that don't know how to turn off a cell phone.
Then you need to get some therapy. Cell phones did not even exist 20 years ago, and the planet was, and is still rotating on its axis. BTW, go back to grammar school.
if you would leave your phone on AGAIN, after spending time in jail for not turning it off the first time, i guess you'll never learn... i can only say i hope it was a learning expirence for her
as far as the pot goes... 45 days in the hole for 7th degree possession is very harsh to say the least
You mean that everytime you've forgotten to turn off your cell phone ringer, you were in a court of law and you had been warned by the judge to turn the ringer off? Wow, you must spend a lot of time in courtrooms!
Spend a lot of ti me in court?
You probably haven't lived long enough to establish a lengthy criminal record yet, but give you enough time.
"If I was convicted for everytime I forgot to turn off the cell ringer I would have a lengthy criminal record by now."
Sounds to me like you need a couple of years in the slammer.
Maybe we could even fit you into the 3 strikes law and you could do 25 to live!
Yes; being smacked about your head and ears by the people around you would likely be much more effective.
I have to spend a lot of time in court. That is one of many places where a ringing cell phone does not belong. Movie theaters are another. Rarely a day goes by that I don't run across some ill-mannered moron being rude with a cell phone. I have come very close to telling a couple of them just where I'd like to stuff it.
Have you ever been dumb (or arrogant) enough to leave your cell phone on after a judge told you to turn it off while in his courtroom?
He told her once and gave her a warning. How many times does someone have to tell you something before you get it right?
Good news, unless the contempt charge was tried (court trial), it is not criminal, or a conviction. It is an administrative punishment imposed by the judge, so you would have no criminal record. At worst you would have an arrest record and you could avoid that in some courts.
