"especially the slower, less agile students". Natural selection hasn't yet culled the slower, less agile minds of liberals from the body politic, so the same dynamic is probably in play here. If we aren't careful, some of those more aggressive youths who aren't especially slow or less agile and actually enjoy dodgeball are going to grow up and join the Marine Corp (the victims will grow up to be actors, psychologists specializing in PEST, NYT columnists and Al Franken). Please, write Nancy Pelosi immediately, supporting this lawsuit. Does anyone have John Edwards number, he should have some free time since November 3rd? There was an injury, so ambulances are involved...

What rot. Dodgeball is a blast, no matter what your speed or agility. This is just another Leftist attempt to p*ssify America's youth.

Kids need this outlet. They build physical strength and even help their minds learn strategy. Taking this type of play away from our kids is just going to lead to a country full of wussies.

Dodgeball is DANGEROUS?!? That's a new one. When I was in school, I broke bones playing football and hockey, sprained ankles playing basketball and baseball... but I can honestly say I've never even SEEN a dodgeball injury (that couldn't be shaken off in a few seconds). Maybe the kids should be limited to sports that don't involve any MOTION. Poker would be a good one.

What a bunch of namby-pamby bleeding-heart commie pinko leftists. Next they'll be trying to ban mom and apple pie.

Come on haven't you ever played dodgeball and continually aimed at the one kid that everyone picked on? We have hurt his feeling and left his low esteem beyond repair, how can you expect him now to grow and be a productive adult

Sorry to burst your bubble but: in 5th grade, I tried to catch a wicked hard throw and the ball separated my right thumb from its socket. Had a real cast and everything. Did I sue? No. Did my parents try to get dodge ball banned at my middle school? No.

Being a lawyer with the ACLU is not a productive adult.

I was that kid. My nickname was YATBKOS (yacht-ba-cose, or, You Are the Breathless Klutz of Springtime). It's all in how you handle being less physically blessed. After a while, people picked on me in jest because they knew I could take it. Heck, they still do.

In eighth grade, we were playing dodgeball and some guy hurled a ball at me, bouncing it off my head, knocking me over and knocking my glasses off at the same time. Then he pointed and laughed. He got in trouble for it, and I was really embarrassed!

But I GOT OVER IT. We are raising the biggest generation of wimps ever. Cowboys with helmets?! Illegal dodgeball?! No smoking in ^%$^ing BARS? The whole world's off its rocker!

I got picked on all the time, most kids gave up once they realized they are not going to get you to cry and run to the teacher or once you made friends with the biggest kid int he class.

Careful there, carpal tunnel can be really nasty.

Speaking of which -- Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that carpal tunnel wrist braces seem to be worn a lot more commonly in government agency offices than they are in private industry?

Ever notice that the laziest and least productive folks in the office are the ones that eventually show up with their wrists in a brace?

These are the same jerks that want to take control of kids that are 'obese' (by THEIR standards). They take away all the exercise vehicles, then legislate against the results and blame it on parents.

"Next they'll be trying to ban mom and apple pie."

Actually, last year I read where some schools were banning any observance of mothers day or fathers day. The company line was that some of the students might "feel bad" if they came from a family that had two dads or two moms and would thereby be left out of celebrating on a day that hit on the opposite sex of their parents.

Guess who was behind this lu-lu.

I think were still OK with the apple pie but I'll bet that it wont be long and that's going to be a violation of a left leaning obesity ordinance!

Yes I have.
But at least while we were playing dodgeball I wasn't dragging
him out behind the bleachers and beating the snot out of him.

I was terrible at dodgeball. We used volleyballs (leather, ouch), and I could never throw them with any velocity, but I loved playing.

Heather became tangled with another child and fell, breaking her elbow.

Heather could also break her elbow by becoming entangled with another stundent as she walked down the hall to her next class. If you ban dodgeball, why not ban all contact sports? Why not just make all kids wear plastic bubbles? That this "lawsuit" was not just thrown out is just crazy insane.
