Memories of the now defunct Montreal Expos.
I remember the team playing after the 1976 Olympics with the warning track being the running track.
NY Mets slugger Dave Kingman knocking out the roof lights and getting the ball stuck...ruled a HR. Changed rule book for doomed stadiums.
Gary Carter.
Mookie Wilson.
The Spaceman.
And that's about it.
How about the Washington Warlords
The Nationals was the team's official name off and on from 1900 to 1960. As for the mayor's point, he should consider the fact that having Washington's senators play baseball rather than deliberate in Congress in itself underscores how DC does not have any senators in Congress. Besides, won't the team get new owners soon who will surely have a say in the new name?
Andre Dawson
Tim Raines
and my favorite,
John Bacabella!
I have a terrible Montreal Expos group at MSN. Guess I will have to change the name!
OK, they don't want to use the name Senators because Washington doesn't have any senators in the U.S. Congress...so why not call the team the Non-voting Delegates?
Washington Nationals is a better name than the old Washington Senators. We know that senators wouldn't show up for the games, or they'd be filibustering for something or other.
Question: Do the NL players wear National on their uniforms and AL wear American on their uniforms during the MLB All-Star Game? Might cause some sonfusion.
