Susan Estrich - Hillary and the Clinton Library

Winning a Democratic nomination has almost nothing to do with winning a general election. We've certainly proven that time and again. Tactics and strategy, manipulating the rules, understanding the game -- it's a different audience, and a different set of skills. Only Iowa, New Hampshire and a handful of other states get to pick the nominee. I think it's entirely possible Hillary could win the nomination, even if she couldn't get elected.

Susan is a lib, but she has a lot of experience in politics and frequently makes astute observations. She's also frequently annoying.

Here's some of both in one article.

She doesn't think Hillary could elected? After watching John F*ckin' go down in flames, Susan Estrich's decided to hedge her bets. You never know - Hillary could be the next Howard Dean.

"To lose an election you thought you were going win literally over the course of a night, and then have your values shoved in your face, is not an experience easily forgotten. The thought of doing it again is beyond painful. "

I rarely find Susan astute, and I will never forget her screaching on election night that Kerry was going to win. Susan is a deluded partisian, not very astute.

As much as I hate to see it, Hillary is gonnamorph into the most moderate Democrat in Senate and become electable. Hillary will find religion, become the biggest defense hawk, moderate her views on gay rights, and perhaps even a tax cutter. Just wait and see.

Susan who? Isn't she still counting votes in Ohio, promising a Kerry win?

Astute observations? Are you kidding? She spent this entire pre-election season blowing smoke. What's worse, she even had to get drunk on election night to pull it off one more time.

For what it's worth, Dick Morris considers the Clinton Lie-brary nothing more than a quote 'slush fund' for Hillary's presidential run. It doesn't have to say who donated to it, Bill can write expense checks against it, can't be investigated, etc.

Every person who has given money to the library, and to prior Clinton campaigns, was invited, along with all the former staff.

Mark Rich was strangely absent. Makes one wonder why.

He funded a nice portion of the Liebrary for a Presidential pardon.

In the beginning, Susan didn't think Kerry would win; she herself said he had "major" women problems that the Boston papers have been hiding for years.

To say Democrats are battle-scarred doesn't begin to describe it. Hit by a train is more like it. To lose an election you thought you were going win literally over the course of a night, and then have your values shoved in your face, is not an experience easily forgotten. The thought of doing it again is beyond painful.

What is the definition of insanity again?

Doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results

I guess Susan is right: Liberals are insane if they nominate Hillary

how astute an observation is saying that winning the democratic nomination doesnt mean you will win the presidency? it sounds so common sense that its almost idiotic to write it as some form of political analysis.

Kerry did prove one important thing: You can go all the way to the election day and never answer the important questions or for that matter, never have a plan for anything. Hillary has never answered the important questions surrounding her role in many matters going way back. Now, she knows that she can run without having to answer any questions or have any solutions.

How about a metaphor?
She is an evil Carol Channing.

Limerick:
There was once a hag named Susan
Whose main occupation was boozin'.
She just wasn't planning
To sound like Carol Channing
But that is the voice she was usin'.

Haiku:
Have you heard Susan?
She sounds like Carol Channing.
What a grating voice.

She used to sort of entertain me---when I could handle her voice, but I will never forgive or forget one Tony Snow show I saw her on about 4-5 months ago.

Tony always had she and Rich Galen debate the election every Saturday afternoon. This one particular Saturday, when Tony went to her (she was in LA) she had this HUGE smile on her face. Well, it just so happened that that week leading up to this interview was a very bloody one in Iraq. I think the US had lost about 50+ troops.

Anyway, Tony went to her first and asked he how she thought things were going for the Kerry campaign. I'll never forget it, she burst out and said (big smile), "I think this is going to be a very good week this next week, did you see how many Americans died last week in Iraq". She was wiggling in her chair, she was so giddy.

Tony and Galen just sat there is stunned silence. Then, Galen told Tony he didn't think he would like to continue the debate under the circumstances. Tony went to commercial and they were both gone.

I immediately sent an e-mail to Fox News, Tony and her.
