"He is former chairman of the French-American Foundation."
But, of course. I thought ambassadors are supposed to be, um, how do I put this, diplomatic? This statement is about as damaging and assinine as the video that started this whole thing. Now the mooslims have a US official on record presupposing guilt. Hope about engaging your pea-brain before speaking Mr Negroponte, you bazturd.
Any chance that someone has a contact number for this guy? I'd even spring for the call if it was an overseas number. I've called everyone else, apparently this pinhead didn't get the message.
The longer that W delays speaking out in this matter, the more my support and respect diminishes. W can squelch all of this with one brief statement. What say you Mr President?
I hear ya, this makes me think of the ambitions of the ICC and how it will be young men like this Marine that would be exposed to their kangaroo justice, not the generals, the diplomats, the envoys, or politicians, just the average Joe's like us.
The U.S. should remind folks we're dealing with terrorists. The Geneva Convention DOES NOT dictate a code of conduct when it comes to dealing with terrorists. Negro'half'pont should know that. Our diplomats and even some military leaders are not representing our cause well when it comes to such incidents. As for the media being imbeded, it's like our guys being in bed with Mata Hari. (sp?)
Exactly! Who the heck is he to decide, needs replacing now.
Bullsqueeze. I'm happy.
I'm happy our Marines are alive and the Moos are dead. What the hell could be simpler, or better than that?
WRITE BUSH!!!!!
What about Rumsfeld, can't he have one of those press conferences where he takes these pompous media types to task and tell them to stuff it and go "IN BED" WITH THE OTHER GUYS AS fATSO CHRIS MATTHEWS CALLS THEM. SITES ALREADY HAS RELATIONS WITH THEM IT SEEMS.
Looking back, can you now understand why I was so angry that Bush didn't recall Clinton's signature from day one? Waiting fifteen months until a few days before the ICC was a fate acompli, was a terribly misguided way to handle this.
We could have led people away from signing this lemon. Instead we allowed them to think we were on board until it was too late.
Grrrrr!
We can kid ourselves all we want to. When it comes to judgements by the ICC, we will not only be judged by it, but our leaders will fall all over themselves to abide by it's judgements.
Imagine that. Our leaders will answer to a entity outside our nation as if they were actually subservient to it, which they sure as hell aren't.
How many more marines will die if the President supports this guy? Despite the fact he was doing the right thing to most people it does look like murder, and if the president says that it was ok then thousands more arabs will rise up in Iraq, some of whom will be able to kill more marines, so more people die in the long run. This guy has to be thrown to the wolves to make sure that the wolves dont bite back even harder
People need to get a grip before going off emotionally half cocked.
One has to notice how quiet the Whitehouse is concerning the marine. The envoy saying "we" will deal with the marine????..Sounds damned lot like the PC people are in charge. Bush blathered on and on about our brave young men before the election, now he has lost his voice.
"Thousands more Arabs" aren't going to rise up in Iraq. Arabs are cowards, always have been, always will be. There are a finite number of wingnuts among them - and the more of that particular kind of violence-inclined Arab we kill the better off the rest of the Arab world will be. Not to mention the FEWER extremists there will be for us to fight later.
You are one miserable coot.
Sorry to see you have to resort to personal attacks because the truth irritates you so much. I try to place myself in the young marines shoes. Looking at it from his eyes is indeed frightening.
Ever heard of unlawful command influence? You third party unappeasables are unusual dolts.
Maybe Negroponte was misquoted or he decided to take the heat for ALLAWI,I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now...But I have to disagree with you about the amount of wingnuts arabs... there are an almost infinite amount thereof.
There is nothing leftwing journalists would like more than to get the rightwing to turn on people like Negroponte.
"Deal with" doesn't necessarily mean "we are going to punish"
It may, but it's unlikely given Negroponte's background.
Judging by the context it more likely means "we're responsible for investigating the case."
Your intelligence is showing....Regards...
