Like everybody knows, no matter how careful one is, in a war zone there is going to be collateral damage. Those innocents that may have stayed apparently thought that their property was worth more than their lives.
"Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, and relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts. Extends protections to victims of wars against racist regimes and wars of self determination."
I'm not sure that applies to the US but I haven't studied this part. Will do so as soon as I can.
"Protocol II Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, and relating to the Protection of Victims of Non-International Armed Conflicts. Extends protections to victims of internal conflicts in which an armed opposition controls enough territory to enable them to carry out sustained military operations."
I'm pretty sure this doesn't apply to the US in this instance nor to the Iraqi government.
But the GC doesn't apply to the situatuion in Iraq anyway. We aren't fighting an army, but terrorists, in no way do they qualify as an army neither through their structure nor their actions.
Why don't you go see some graphic pics of the butchery those animals did to the innocent civilian, Margaret Hassan? Go watch the graphic videos of innocent civilians in Iraq, Russia, and Saudi Arabia being beheaded, see pics of our soliders without arms, legs, eyes, or dead from boobytrapped bodies or terrorists playing dead, then attacking our soldiers and then come back and lecture us on the GC.
The GC is for men, women and nations of honor not less than animal beings.
That is a fair comment. It's certainly worthy of consideration.
It's amazing to me how people never learn from history.
Agreed.
