asked him to mount a primary challenge to Grassley but they wouldn't go along with it.

Just a hunch but, maybe Mr. King didn't want to (1) end what appeared to be a promising career in politics and (2) be forever remembered as a total nutjob, which is exactly what he would have accomplished by running against Grassley.

Enough conservatives hate Grassley for the Prescription Drug bill, gutting the tax cut, supporting Ganske over Salier and his general big-government outlook. Chuckles has really wandered off the reservation.

Had a legitimate challenger emerged, Grassley would have had the fight of his life.
