Really? shy that sucks, didnt know that.
Read the article that is linked.
It is a taxpayer issue.
The recount fee is $113,000, the total cost to the state will be $1.5 million.
Here's the last paragraph in the article:
Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, said the actual cost to county election boards combined will be about $1.5 million.
Hmmmn?? I wonder what they will find??? It will be fun when they discover Kerry actually won.. they will spin themselves into the ground..Then we can counter with the non-fact that Bush actually won the popular vote!
Some people on here sure want to keep the fears about this going. Why is that anyway? Do you really believe we are going to see a contested election NOW? And what would Karl Rove do, smile and agree...and not bring up a few Kerry states that were far closer and with a lot of suspect ballots and fraud? Let's get real here. These Ohio re-count threads sure have a lot of NEW F.R. "members" on them!! Every single one of them...
Kerry knew all of this; he had all of this information.
If he thought he could prevail under the circumstances, he wouldn't have thrown in the towel.
I guess Drudge is a new freeper too. He is reporting on his site. If he puts it up, we should take a moment and look into it.
You are right... especially when we got a glimpse of the DNC playbook and all about seizing and declaring victory even if it is not yet decided, and 10,000 lawyers, etc etc. But Kerry conceded, has returned to the Senate and is moving on. Edwards has vanished to private life, and Teresa can now get drunk and not be hidden from view.
They should be careful what they wish for.....
That's a relief. I was picturing scenarios like in Florida where all the people counting within individual precincts, especially Dem-leaning ones, were either all Democrat or 2 Democrats, 1 Republican with majority agreement.
This shouldn't hold up in court. It seems that one would have to benefit from a recount. No way these parties could have won so no benefit.
Joh
A little off topic, but speaking of Teresa, she was more trouble than anyone could have guessed.
I just finished reading the Newsweek article...unbelievable!
It's just a little disturbing that the Kerry press corps didn't see fit to report on her shenanigans during the election. She couldn't take the pressure of a campaign, what would she have done if her husband had won the Presidency and she had had to assume the duties of First Lady as well as the extra stress and added pressures.
WRONG!!! Sandusky is in Erie County which went for Kerry!
Thanks for setting us worrywarts straight!! You Buckeyes sure have everything in order. If you required IDs in voting you'd have the perfect election system.
Sounds like it would be difficult to count those spoiled ballots. Sounds like they are not being counted along with the provisionals, but would only be counted in a recount. I think it has been said the state can deny the recount request, so let's hope that happens. Meanwhile as 10 or 20% of the provisionals are thrown out, it makes it impossible for Kerry to take the lead even if he were to win all of them.
Can I get some clarification also on the provisionals? The media are still using the 155K figure but one link on FR earlier today had the Sec of State's office saying that number is down to 136,000.
You are right, if it were like Florida, then I could see reason for concern, but state law here mandates bipartisan election commissions. So, no shenanigans. Kerry was aware of this.
In my precinct, they actually were asking us to show driver's licenses to make the process flow faster.
Drudge is not reliable. He reports anything he hears. Think of election day and the totally bogus exit polls. If he tried to research and double or triple source a few things instead of going for headlines, he'd re-gain his former stature maybe.
Thanks for all of your informed info....
