"We aren't a democracy. You do not control the military. The elected representatives do. So no, you most certainly do NOT have the right to judge this Marine."

That's worth reading again folks. Americans don't have the right to judge those in the military; only elected members of congress do, according to this constitutional scholar.

If we aren't a democracy, what are we fighting for? Go tell that to the couragous marines who you claim to love.

We are a Constitutional Republic, bright guy. Do you vote on every proposed law? No? Then we aren't a democracy. The military is under Congressional and Executive control, not public control, Mister Constitutional Scholar. We do not decide what course of action the military takes. We may disapprove all we want, and often have. But the fact of the matter is that the last time the US public decided to get involved with the conduct of a war we were forced to disengage with very problematic (read 2.5 to 3.5 million dead civilians) results.

Those troops are fighting for their love of kin and country, not for democracy. They fight for us, so we woun't have terrorists striking our cities again. Ask any of them what they fight for, and you will find few if any will tell you 'democracy'.
