Spouses and Civil Unions. Not everyone believes in legal marriage. There are many people who choose to survive without the benefit of marriage. I just dont see what harm there is in recognizing this persons domestic partner.
I wholeheartedly object to Gay Marriage because marriage is a religious institution and should stay there. At the same time I wholeheartedly object to denial of domestic partner benefits for those people who are legitimately partnered.
So in this case since there was no will and testament, the inheritance will likely be questioned in probate court. Not because the relationship was illigitimate, but because there was no Last Will and Testament.
It's not a religious issue once it arrives at the courts. So I dont see a reason why it is a problem if this person happens to be a bone smoking saddamite.
