This from his blog, is a very good example of that type of quirky writing.
Personally, I wish Joe could go to over to Fox, but they may not be that interested because of things like "media politics." (see #1 below)
1.) -A lot of people like him better than O'Reilly, he might erode "the big man's" ratings...
And what would Fox do with Greta van Susteren?? She's been there ages, they wouldn't want to get her mad, where would they stick her show...again pecking order, contracts, and all that.
2.) -I really think MSNBC doesn't want to lose him.
How many of us state his the only show we watch on MSNBC?? THAT's what they bank on, conservatives would basically never tune in to their channel if it wasn't for Joe.
3.) -MSNBC probably pays a very competitive amount to keep him, for that reason, because they know he's their only chance to bring in conservative viewers. Also, Kaplan has been very understanding with Joe doing the show in different places when did his book tour, and about working around his illness. Kaplan for ratings reasons, knows the score, knows he needs him. (see #2)
For Joe himself though, MSNBC is not really in his best interest for reasons many have stated. It causes him to lose viewers, they make him share time with Ron Jr, Imus, a coworker, is unspeakbly rude to him sometimes. Not acceptable. He's like an apple in a sea of oranges.
Of course, it could be argued that makes him more notable than being an apple in a sea of apples (Fox). Fox probably isn't asking him over, I would imagine, they'd basically have to decide first to dump Greta or someone else. Don't think they will.
