CONWAY - A former Horry County and Conway city police officer was killed in Iraq early Tuesday.

David Randolph was killed during a tactical operation on the way to Fallujah, Horry County Police Sgt. Andy Christenson said.

The Horry County Police Department will establish a fund in the next few days to help Randolph's wife, Elizabeth "Susie" Randolph, and their four children: a 5-year-old daughter, twin 3-year-old son and daughter and a 9-month-old son.

Dave was a good guy and I worked with him on many cases. He was the County Police dog handler when he went to work for a security contractor in Iraq. I will miss him.

We must win in Iraq. The sacrifice of lives such as Daves can only be justified by victory, not another "loss of political will" defeat.

Tarry no longer.

Tarry no longer,
From thine heritage.
Haste on thy way,
And be of right good cheer.
Go each day onward on thy Pilgrimage.
Think... how... short time... thou dost abide thee here.

Thy place is built above the starre's clear,
None earthly palace wrought in such stately wise.
Come on, my friend, my brother, most dear...
Come on, my friend, my brother, most dear...
Tarry no longer!

I'm so sorry. I'll send up prayers for you and for his family.

There will be victory and he will not have died in vain.

Our armed forces are brave and determined about that.

I am so sorry, I left out the most important part of the last verse:

Thy place is built above the starre's clear,
None earthly palace wrought in such stately wise.
Come on, my friend, my brother, most dear...
Come on, my friend, my brother, most dear...

For thee I offered my blood... in sacrifice.

Tarry no longer!

Prayers for his wife and children. May they take comfort in the knowledge that their husband and father died a hero to so many Americans and Iraqis.

Father God, All of us, America as a nation mourn the loss of our brave and wonderful service men who lay down their lives to protect ours and the freedom that we all too often take for granted. We know Father, that you feel our pain as You watched as Your Beloved Son laid down His Life to purchase salvation and eternal life for us. We ask Father that You will comfort the families and friends of all who have suffered this great sacrifice and make Your Presence and Awesome Love known to them in powerful ways. Father, I know that You have a way of taking bad things and turning them in to good and so I ask that this loss of precious life will somehow be used to turn the hearts and minds of Americans to You so that America may once again be 'One Nation Under God' and again be the shining city on a hill that will bring Glory to Your Name. Father, my heart just breaks for the families who have lost their loved ones and I pray that every life that is gone on earth is now safely in Your Mighty Hands. In the Glorious Name Of Jesus we pray AMEN

Bears repeating: We must win in Iraq. The sacrifice of lives such as Daves can only be justified by victory, not another "loss of political will" defeat.

It is up to us to ensure our politicians commit our troops for causes we only intend to allow them to win.

Prayers lifted for the Troops and their families. We should never forget their sacrifices, especially when compared to what we've been asked to give.
