Actually, I prefer to have all of the money I paid into this miserable Social Security lie to be returned to me. How realistic is that possibility?

Let the system fail? During our hero's presidency? I'd rather not let Democrats blame our President for such a failure because failure would be a very effective political campaign against conservatives. Jeremiah, I prefer that we save what can be saved and convert what should be private. Eventually, the individual's retirement will be the individual's responsibility the way it should have always been.

Do you really think that I'm not a conservative? Or, should you rather blame me for trying to think of a winnable solution?

A beginning to devolve SS into a private system would be fine, but the system we have will fail first. No matter what party is the majority in DC, the government will continue to grow unless there is a catastrophe. An optimist like GW only sees that he can make a difference, a dem sees the same, but only from a pessimistic attitude. The way I see it, a pessimist cannot win a national majority, so the optimists will continue on seeing the glass as half full. We need a new deal, a retreat from the social policies of the past, and a smaller govt, with reliance on local and state govts.
