I'm not afraid of illegal aliens that only seek work and the American way of life. President Bush said in his interview with O'Rielly days before the election, family values don't stop at the border. The overwhelming majority of people who escape to America do it for a better life and not to destroy life.

Take a look at our American born population. We aren't replacing the numbers aging adults with newborns. How are we going to save Social Security if we stop having babies? Europe is dying and has to import foreigners to prop their social systems.

We can filter the dangerous illegal aliens from the industrious. We owe it to our aging to not reduce the benefits of what the retirement we all are promised. I speak, not only as a first generation American from Irish and Hispanic parents, but also as an American who knows that our History and our way of life has supported and been supported by both huge and healthy influxes of foreigners.

The importance of filtering immigrants is to determine whether they will bond with the American way of life, or will subdue and obliterate it. The amnesty that our President wants for the present illegal aliens are for those that prop up and support America and not for those that are terrorists bent on a life of crime and violence.

Exactly. I am getting concerned that some Freepers are sounding like Pat Buchanan. On election day after the full result of the Republican success was known he was on MSNBC bemoaning the fact that he no longer recognizes the face of the Republican party (too few whites!). Wilson from California almost single handedly lost us the Hispanic vote for a generation. Tancredo had something to do with Coors losing his Senate contest. I think most of the immigrants from Mexico are the hardest workers and most ambitious people from that country. If we are able to assimilate them without giving them preference (in terms of green cards) for being here illegally, we'll have a great win-win situation. I would have thought differently had they come from muslim countries.

I understand your position but must disagree with you. Even without the terrorist threat, this immigration situation is a problem. Did you know that not one minority group voted for the GOP candidate in any of the last three elections? Those are the facts.

In time we will become a socialist state by virtue of the ballot box if the demographic shift is not halted - at least temporarily so that the new immigrants can find out the real reasons America is great - and it isn't because of big government.

Obviously, you are not a conservative. The best thing that could happen to the current social system is for it to collapse, sooner rather than later. Social security is paid for out of current taxes, there is no lockbox, there can never be under the current plan. As long as this fraud is allowed to grow, it will be a threat to the fiscal health of this nation.
