Mushrooms are a popular ingredient in other recipes besides Italian pastas.
And because they are on Atkin's list of approved "veggies", they'd be unaffected by the shift to an Atkins diet.
People will still eat 'em, only they'd fix 'em different.

You are not understanding the market. Mushrooms are used far more in Italian cuisine than by Atkins dieters looking for an approved vegetable.

The loss of Atkins people to Italian restaurants is more likely to reduce mushroom orders than the few Atkins dieters who saute muchrooms to put on steaks. I am married to an Atkins dieter, and I can guarantee you that the mushrooms I cooked with steaks or as salad preps were far fewer than the mushrooms we used to get on pizzas and pasta.

And it IS a Canadian company. This is not relevant to American business practice, nor to our government's policies.

You have made no attempt to discern WHY this company is laying off. Therefore, this is simply scaremongering as is your wont.
