Happy you cybershared with us.
First of all, my most heartfelt congratulations. I can honestly say that my kids are the most incredible and magnificent thing I have ever been a part of. Worth every bit of time and effort.
From the month-early birthdate and birth weight, I must advise you of something to be wary of in premature boys -- watch out for hernia. My son was 4 lbs. 15 oz. at birth, five weeks early, and he was A-OK except that about a month and half later his lower intestines intruded into his scrotum, a result of some sort of membrane down there not being fully formed before he was born. Surgery quickly corrected this, so it's not a big deal, but it may happen and you want to take care of it as soon as it appears, if it even does. Ask your doctor.
Beyond that, my only recommendation is two words: BREAST FEEDING. There is no substitute and the benefits are many, especially for a preemie. Get a good breast pump for your lady and within six months that five-pound baby will weigh twenty five!
Best of luck,
Joe Brower
Congratulations - you are a Daddy!
You are now officially a Hero. There will be times when you'll think you aren't, or times when he'll think you aren't, but it doesn't matter. From now on, live each day knowing that this child looks to you as the blueprint for his life, as the strength in his storm.
When he is old, he will tell your story and be glad...
