Yes, they are.
Leaving aside the abortion discussion, most of these are the extreme right wing of what used to be the religious right of this party; there was a time when they were in complete control; now that they aren't anymore, they have latched on to Bush's win and tried to claim responsibility for his win, thus putting them, in their minds, in a position to control the party.
It's simply not going to happen.
Most of these are what most of us have been fighting for the last five years; the Bush haters and the unappeasables.
For five years, they've been telling us if we just put a real, true conservative on the ticket, they'd sweep the country. I think Alan Keyes settled that once and for all this time.
Keyes was a loose cannon who sounded off ad nauseum with proposals considered crackpot in most conservative circles. Reparations? A draft when we don't need one?
