Oh, deer! Buck's death raises flap
San Antonio Express-News, Nov 12, 2004 | Nov 12, 2004 | Ron Henry Strait

Buck's death raises flap.Texas game wardens probe knifing of animal with gargantuan antlers at Camp Bullis, Texas. Opening weekend deer hunting in south Texas resulted with a white-tailed deer, no one in Texas has seen in nearly 80 years. "Bullis Buck" carried antlers with 35 scorable points and an outside spread of more than 27 inches and ranks as the third largest taken from a native whitetail in Texas. The problem is the means in which this buck was taken and possible prosecution of the people involved. The question is who winds up with the record-setting rack, which could have a value to collectors in excess of $20,000.

I wonder if Texas allows the use of spears for deer hunting?

Wouldn't that be Clinton asking the "Did someone say 'record-setting rack?'" question.

"I only use a knife to hunt wild boar."

Some years ago, I heard of a guy who did just that. Used to get up on a limb overhanging their trail and jump down on 'em.

According to Range Control at Camp Bullis, the buck had a broken back. They were just "putting the animal out of its misery." I think I have received a picture of every employee at Camp Bullis holding this animal.

I got into a knife fight with a groundhog a couple of years ago. I think I won (stabbed in the mouth, but it ran into a hole). Those things are feisty when cornered.

A 10 point buck went through a plate glass store front at a shoe store after closing here a few years ago. He trashed the place stole two pairs of children's Nikes and split. The police responded as he was coming back out and gave chase. He escaped and there was no blood found. But we still find little Nike prints in the area.

I was making the stolen shoes part up but the rest is true.

John Kerry once had to wrestle a Grizzly Bear to the ground after it knocked away his double barrel shotgun.

Yep - that was the year he spent Christmas in Cambodia.... You know those Cambodian Grizzly Bears are tough critters -
