You're comparing apples to oranges; I don't equate "sales" with "genius".I think "genius" is too strong of a word to apply to any musician or musical group of the past 50 years.

Did they stop making musical geniuses in 1954 or did they all go into business? Was it the fallout?
Look, I completely agree that the word genius gets thrown around way too much, but I think we have witnessed genius, especially in jazz. And I would have to say that Brian Wilson comes pretty damn close...
