I think the reasons organizations come out with these lists is to generate publicity for themselves. People here have been discussing it for 60 something posts now. I don't mind the discussion, but we have to remember these lists are usually self serving silliness.

Cliff (here with the Shadows, perhaps still known as the Drifters at the time) in the 1950s, before going pop soft, not bad at all! There is an album with cuts from that period titled The Rock'n'Roll Years that is worth checking out.

Name any British act you want. No matter who it is they're no better than second behind Cream

No mention of Zepplin? Clapton(or any of his bands)? Iron Maiden? The Who? Those are all English bands too.

And no mention of AC/DC, Hendrix, Van Halen, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thin Lizzy...........

Oh yeah, any list is a big load of crap if this guy isn't listed as King of the 70s:

As I look back at the shows I've seen, the standouts are Rod Stewart and Small Faces, Joplin, Jethro Tull....Hendrix just wasn't that much of a showman, but he played the guitar very well as I recall.
