Well, with luck this too shall pass. The same mindset that today demands that Poofism have equal place alongside evolution in the biology texts would hav ebeen the same mindset that would have demanded crystal spheres and epicycles alongside Copernicus and Kepler's "Theory" of heliocentrism.

They are to be pitied, not hated. For they know that they are doomed to extinction and the ridicule of history.

I wouldn't count on it. They've been braying about how evolution is on its last legs and how it will be debunked "Any Day Now" for the last 150 years, and they've been harping against an old-earth view for even longer. I don't expect them to stop anytime soon. They'll just keep at the same old lies and distortions, claiming that just now they've finally found the right evidence that proves that all of evolution is bogus. Just like they've been doing for over a century.
