Why is having one's tubes tied "sinful"?

Is the only kind of birth control you accept, abstinence?

Sheeeeeeeeeesh...I really don't think I want the "full" story. The father is a criminal, your Aunt is mentally retarded, and now you've changed the story, claiming that your grandmother just "helped" a little?

Look...there's something VERY dishy with the story in this article.A 59 year old woman isn't capable of still menstruating and tied tubes just do NOT secretly come undone over a period of many years. And GOD doesn't oversee every single person on Earth's happenstances. You can believe that if you want to,but you then have to also believe that GOD is responsible to every single bad thing that happens too. Helloooooooooooooooo.............? Even the Cathars and Manacheism has two deities...one evil and one good.

I made no assumption...I just threw out some possibilities. This woman got pregnant somehow and it most assuredly wasn't an immaculate conception;ergo, she had sexual relations with at least one man,to who she was not married. As I said, this story is bizarre! There are so many holes in it,that it is unbelievable as is.

And you have made quite a number of assumptions on your own;not to mention basing your opinions in a type of mindless religiosity, that doesn't strengthen your case. You don't know how much longer these parents will live,if the are in good health,or even if they have enough money to provide for these babies, should they die soon. There is no way to know if their older children and grandchildren,or even the great grandchildren will help. And there are health risks for a pregnant woman this age,as well as to the children she's carrying.

Since I never mentioned abortion,in any of my posts,it appears that you see things that are neither written, nor implied.Maybe that's why you also missed the point,in the Bible, about being judgmental. We actually ARE supposed to judge...though many do mistake the " JUDGE NOT,LEST YE BE JUDGED" part, for meaning that we shouldn't judge acts and people.

nopardons-

I don't know why you are attacking me for having a different opinion than you. I do believe having your tubes tied is sinful and abstinence is the prefered method at our house when we feel that we're not ready for more kids at the moment. I don't go around judging every one that does not agree with me. The world is full of different people with different ideas. Wouldn't want it any other way!

I did not change my story about my aunt. Why would I? If you go back and look at my original post you will see that I said my grandma helped my aunt. I never said she raised them by herself. My aunt is not mentally retarded. I said she is not the most intelligent person in the world. She's made a few bad judgements. However, those supposed mistakes gave me 2 wonderful cousins that I love dearly.

I do believe that God oversees everything. He is all knowing. God gave us free will and allows bad things to happen. It all depends on what you do with those bad things. My aunt helped my grandmother and everything turned out fine. Does it always? Of course not. We take the good with the bad and grow from it.

Obviously a 59 year old woman IS capable of menstruating or she would not have conceived this baby. I never said it was an immaculate conception. I believe that it takes 3 to make a baby. A male, a female and God. My opinion. Not yours. Fine.

You said,

"And you have made quite a number of assumptions on your own;not to mention basing your opinions in a type of mindless religiosity, that doesn't strengthen your case. You don't know how much longer these parents will live,if the are in good health,or even if they have enough money to provide for these babies, should they die soon. There is no way to know if their older children and grandchildren,or even the great grandchildren will help. You don't know any of this information, either. Unlike you, I prefer to look at the positive possibilities instead of dwelling on the negative. I'm not mindless...just happy. According to you, only young, rich, healthy, married people should be allowed to have babies. I love babies. All of them. Even the unexpected ones. I have faith in mankind. I like to believe that this is a family that will stick together and help each other out. I don't see anything wrong with that.

You could be right. She may die or the children may die in childbirth. The parents may not be as physically fit as someone in their 20's. They may have astronomical hospital bills and need help from family, community or government. So what? Are we such hateful people that we can't find it in our hearts to help people that truly need it? She didn't exactly plan on this happening.

I'm still not sure exactly what you think this mother should have done to prevent this from happening? Not have sex? Then you agree with abstinence? No? I never said you thought abortion was the answer, I was asking you if you thought abortion was the answer. All I've seen from your posts is the horrific side of this situation. All I am trying to do is show the possibility of a more positive side. I have no idea how it will turn out. I'm just not going to jump on the negative band wagon. You're taking up all the room there already.
