Anyone have a list of those 20 stations? Wonder if they are in blue states or red states...

The guy quoted, Cole, is speaking for the ABC stations in Lincoln and Sioux City and Des Moines as I recall.

Look, this had to be an easy call for him. The possibility of fines and plenty of people who complain every time the f-word is aired or even if it gets bleeped out. People are fed up with it. Even if they bleep it, we all know what they actually said from the context.

Good for Cole and his stations. You don't need vulgar language to make good movies and TV. Generally, it covers for mediocre content anyway. If it's good enough, it doesn't need vulgar language. If it's not good, then why bother to show it?

Maybe Tom Hanks and Hollyweird will think twice before making something like this again with gratuitous vulgarity. Beyond that, Hollyweird now sees that their royalties (with which they fund loonie Lefties) get cut visibly if they market vulgar language in what should be G-rated material.

Have you ever been around troops? Especially troops in combat? A realistic portrayal of combat and a "G-rating" are completely incompatible. It took me a long time after leaving the Marine Corps to be able to speak a paragraph that didn't have at least one obscenity in it.

I don't think SPR was as good as some others seem to think, but some of the combat scenes were the most realistic ever filmed up to that point. I don't blame Spielberg for insisting it be run uncut.
