To: Intolerant in NJ
I myself might have been the target of such spitting had the United Airlines agent who was apparently outraged and offended by my uniform not been at some distance across the ticket counter from me - of course the fact that I was not actually returning from Vietnam, but from eighteen months at the medical center on Okinawa, makes the "babykiller" silliness all the more disgusting.....

Yes, that is where I received most of the insults. At the friggin airports.

In order to get the cheaper standby, or sometimes free fares, you had to wear the uniform.

For some of those idiots it was a target of disrespect.

Once you got further inland from the East coast, the A'holes magically disappeared.

For this reason, and this reason alone, I have NEVER returned to the East coast for any reason.

Good evening.

SFO was the worst possible transit point. We all passed through San Francisco on our way home and we all remember.

Cold Heat:

Thank you for your service to our country and the same to all Viet Nam vets. WE know who the real heroes were and are - our military.

You said when you left the East Coast - you were not treated with such disrepect. I am glad to hear that. Whereabouts did you travel to? Was it, as the liberals say so disparagingly, "Flyover country"? Were you then greeted with the courtesy you deserved (I hope so).

I think we "rubes" in Flyover country knew and still know how to honor our military. I got in a screaming fight with a stepdaughter who was brain-washed by her professors (pardon the expression) about Vietnam and John Kerry. I set her straight, but am not sure she believed me.

I guess the only consolation to this continued onslaught of insults to our Viet Nam vets is that millions of us DO honor you and that fire of respect for you will burn brightly for years to come.

God Bless You.
