MILWAUKEE - A radio station pulled a conservative talk radio show from the airwaves Nov. 8 as members of the city's Latino community continued to protest its host and his use of an ethnic slur.
WISN Radio's parent company, Clear Channel Communications Inc., said Mark Belling's program would return but did not say when.

You said it very well ... sad to say we have so many thin-skinned people running around who are so easily offended. Much of the trash that comes out of Hollywood is designed to offend "Red America" values. What do I do? Leave the TV off or not go to the movies. My choice.
Yeah, imagine calling wetbacks "wetbacks". How offensive to the illegal aliens. Oh, wait, they're criminals, aren't they?? Wetbacks, wetbacks, wetbacks. Nyaaa.
It appears that every group gets to make up its own list of offensive terms.
Here are a few of mine. I am deeply offended by the following "people of color" used to exclude me. 'Anglo'
"Bible Thumper" Implying people who share my religious beliefs are ignorant, stupid or are Nazis or fascists.
"Homophobe" to describe religious opposition to the agenda of homosexual activist groups.
ETC
Hell, the editor of the latino paper calling for belling to be fired made a offensive comment about mentally handicapped children:
'Huyke told Sykes on the air that Milwaukee Latinos would not be treated "like a retarded kid sitting in the corner." '

And his apology apparently means he shouldn't lose his job, while belling apologizing means he should lose his.
The continual double standard of the media towards the left is amazing.
I listen to Mark Belling here in Chicago. Half of his program is devoted to local issues, half to nationwide. IMO, his style is similar to Roger Hedgecock's, maybe a little more biting.
Right before the election, groups in Milwaukee were using public money to "get out the vote". All well and good, BUT they were focusing on the South side of Milwaukee, highly Democratic.
"Hundreds of public schoolchildren, some as young as 11, are taking time out of regular classes to canvass neighborhoods in Milwaukee, Madison and Racine in a get-out-the-vote effort organized by Wisconsin Citizen Action Fund - a group whose umbrella organization has endorsed John Kerry for president."
"The coalition says the effort is non-partisan, but because the group is targeting minority neighborhoods and those with historically low voter turnout - overwhelmingly Democratic areas - Republican operatives are crying foul amid the highly charged political atmosphere in the state."
-- Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, 10-26-04
Belling went ballistic. He was really po'd. I can see why he might have slipped up with the "wetback" comment.
Liberals were indeed planning on cheating here .. probably did. They were signing up nonexistent people at nonexistent addresses (vacant lots), people voting multiple times, other assorted fraudulent registrations that the the corrupt head of the City Election Commission refused to investigate, even when the fraud was committed right in her office in front of a witness. The head of the Election Commission called the witness and told her that she didn't see what she claimed she saw and that she was interfering with getting people to vote. I am convinced that if they did a recount, President Bush would have carried Wisconsin instead of The Poodle. Fortunately, it didn't give the French-looking candidate the White House.
I don't think anyone who uses the terms whitey or nazi inappropriately should be in broadcasting either. All I'm saying is that if I ran a radio station, I would prefer that my employees not use racial slurs on air. I think that is fairly reasonable.
Saying that his actions were stupid is not even remotely similar to using a racial slur (not the equivalent of some other slurs, but a racial slur nonetheless). And I don't care if you are offended by my use of the word "stupid." The nice thing about this forum is I can offend people without repercussions here. In the world of broadcasting, there are repercussions for pissing off major segments of the listening audience with the use of stupid slurs.
My point is that you seem to come down pretty hard on this guy for an off comment remark - the liberals do it all the time without fear of reprisal. I am just tired of the double standard that is applied to conservatives. It is time that we give our own a break and the benefit of doubt - to hear people like you come down on him is upsetting because pressure for the libs is not applied equally. Lets stand together folks - people make mistakes - Im sure there are things we have all said that we would like to take back - its the PC crowd on the left that dont care to hold their tongue - when a conservative says he's sorry lets give em another chance. Dont be so critical.
"In the world of broadcasting, there are repercussions for pissing off major segments of the listening audience with the use of stupid slurs."
That rule applies only if your white and male. If you think otherwise provide ONE example.
Perhaps I should have said "there should be" repercussions. I don't follow the media closely enough to have any examples of either minorities using slurs and getting away with it or minorities using slurs and being fired, so I can't speak to your argument. And even if minorities are getting away with using racist language, that doesn't change my view on this case whatsoever.
WNOV in Milwaukee has one that uses racial slurs constantly, former alderman Michael McGee, a loudmouthed black community activist. McGee has made frequent anti-Semitic slurs as well as referring to white people regularly as "whitey," "honky," and "cracker." Needless to say, the sounds made by the liberal brownshirts protesting Mark Belling more closely resemble chirping crickets when it comes to McGee.
WGN does not have Hannity. Do you mean WLS ?
WLS yes, thank you :)
With 44% of the Hispanic vote I am going to challenge him AFTER HE CUTS MY HAIR next time on why Hispanics are going to familia es todas con Bush? a abortion, gay sht, etc.>
maybe i am stupid. i don't get it.
