You are correct. Half a loaf is better than none, and the RINOs have been helpful in many situations. This blanket castigation is unwarrented. Specter has supported GW before, when it counted, and holding him back from this post would likely cause more problems than it would solve, since it would lose us the support of other RINO senators. We have a 5 vote lead, not a 15 vote lead. We need them all.

I must respectfully disagree. Regardless of what else President Bush does this term, his legacy will largely be defined by the Supreme Court justices he gets appointed to the bence. If someone like Spector causes us to get stuck with two more Souters then the entire 8 years of his reign will be forever tarnished. He just can't take the risk.
