I agree. I don't think rights come without responsibilities. You have the right to drive a car but if don't do so responsibly that right can be taken away from you. It should be the same with free speech. You have the right present a news segment or print a newspaper article but that right should be taken away if it can be proven that you misrepresented facts intentionally.
We just went through a horrible election cycle where the majority of the media blatantly shilled for on candidate and presented it as "news." The good news they did such a poor job of appearing unbiased many people's eyes were opened to the situation.
Hopefully people don't forget the lessons that we've learned. Fox's numbers keep trending up and more people are turning to the Internet to verify news stories for themselves.
Dan Rather should be sitting in prison now. CBS should be fined a couple of million, and put on probation for about 5 years.
I doubt that the propaganda in the old Soviet Union was any more blatant than the MSM has been this past year.
Free Speech doesn't mean you can yell fire in a theater, nor should it mean you can deceive the American people with lies, in order to elect your favorite Communist candidate.
