We probably all prefer Fox News over CNN, CNBC, the network news shows, etc.
But I was wandering as I was watching the election night coverage and Brit Hume seemed so giddy with excitement when Bush started to pull away - what are the true political leanings of the Fox News staff?
My take:
Bill O'Reilly - Basically a slightly left-leaning Libertarian redeemed by a belief in a vigorous American foreign policy and a sneering content for the MSM
Brit Hume - love the guy....with us 100%, I believe...I LOVED the way he interacted in such an over-the-top way with Susan Estritch on election night basically wiping her face with Kerry's loss....
Fred Barnes - same as Brit, 'red' to the core....but fair and honest in his analysis..
Shep Smith - seems to also take glee in Democratic pain but not so sure....his very patriotic stances make me think he's one of us, though...
Sean Hannity - no issues with Sean....
Morton Kondracke - middle of the road leftie but fair....
Greta Van Susteren - big time left winger if I had to guess...
Juan Williams - leftie....no doubt about it....
What do you all think???
I hate Shepard Sminth...
How is gretta van susteren still on television. How anybody can go on national television and discuss Laci Peterson's dead fetus for an hour and live with themselves is beyond me.
Maybe we could trade her to MSNBC for Scarborough. We'll throw in Judge Napolitano to make it nice and even.
Chris Wallace is a 'chip off the old block'. He should be tossed out on the street right now.
Neal Cavuto: Right
John Gibson: Right
Brian Kilmeade: Right
Jim Anglin: Right
Neil Cavuto is a good guy and conservative. John Gibson seems to be pretty cool now. It's funny, 'cause I hated him when he was on another network. Bill O'Reilly wants the populist label so badly, he twists in the wind. But, some of his consistent viewpoints are pretty liberal. Examples: He admits Kyoto is a bad solution, but still seems to support it. He is, in any case, for strict environmental regulation. He wants the government to cap doctors' salaries.
I think that is the beauty of Fox News. they are fair and balanced. When you compare them to the dinosaur media, of course they are going to look right-leaning. One thing I did notice is that late in the campaign, when Kerry's campaign lodged complaints against Fox, the were giving Kerry a lot more air time.
Did anyone notice the disgust in the FoxNews room when the faulty exit polls were released. They looked like the school kid that just had his lunch stolen by the bully.
Shep has you fooled. Lefty; Big Time! So is Greta.
Steve Ducy, ED Hill, Jane Skinner, David Asman, Neil Cavuto, Linda Vester, John Gibson, Brit Hume - all right wing.
Lori Dhue is slightly left, but I'll forgive her since she is so babelicious.
I love watching Hannity...but ugh must I have to suffer through the idiocy of Colmes? ..i turn off the sound when its his turn, he makes me ill. If i had one wish for fox it would be that hannity had his own show without that other thing having to be there.
I agree with your assessment on Greta. She seems to ever so slightly wince when things are going bad for the dims. But then its hard to tell if her skin is just trying to pull back into place or not :)
And my favorite lefty on the show too is Mort. He has enough of a logic side that he doesn't sugar coat when the dims do something stupid. They worked him overtime on this campaign.
Juan always looks like he's going to cry...until someone tells him he looks like he's going to cry. Then he seems to snap out of dim robot mode and act like a human for a few seconds.
Colmes I just can't stand, but I have to watch because I like seeing Sean tear him a new you-know-what every night.
Brenda Butner!
Brit Hume, for sure.
He seemed wryer than usual and a little irritable on election night, which surprised me a bit. Maybe he was just tired.
And, IIRC, Greta is Sen. Joseph McCarthy's goddaughter (!) Maybe he dropped her on her head (it sure would explain that strange-shaped mouth of hers).
Greta and her husband are high level members of Scientology. Their primary residence is in a Florida community that is comprised of those with bucks who support Scientology. Her husband made the cash as an ambulance chaser. He has had large cases, including victims of the Bhopal, India disaster. He makes John Edwards look like a pauper by comparison. Naturally, Greta and her husband are Democrats.
"According to the Kerry for President campaign, News Corp. President and chief operating officer Peter Chernin has endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate. News Corp. owns Fox News Channel."
"That would put Chernin in the ranks of some other Kerry-supporting media executives, including Barry Diller, Kirk Kerkorian (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.) and Harvey and Robert Weinstein, who backed the release of Michael Moore's controversial anti-Bush documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11.
____________
"News Corp. owns Fox News Channel." . . and Bill O'Reilly, and Hannity and Colmes. Is it any wonder direct posting from FoxNews is on the "No-No" list?
____________
That 'splains this . .
Good post! I've often wondered if I had guessed some of the right as well! I think Edie, on Fox & Friends in the morning is a closet lefty, but my wife doesn't think so. That may just be a difference in the way her and I see it, but I've suspected its a Man/Woman perspective...thing.
I'd have to say Brit Hume is the best anchor on TV right now.
Brit #1, love this guy... very giddy after the returns, you could see it all over his face.
of course Sean... although sometimes, he goes overboard and repeats himself... I prefer his talk show.
Alan.... need I say more!
O'Reilly... I just don't know what to make of him, he pisses me off sometime, but I can't help but watch.
Barnes... love him, my favorite show is Brit's show with his panel at the end, all the way right.
Kondrake.... left, but I like him... you could just see how he must've hated sKerry.
Juan.... don't like him, left as they come.
Greta... I listen, but can't stand to watch her... something wrong with her mouth. I'm not sure of pol. side.
Shep... don't know what to think, but he's [just] OK
And I really like the other guy on Brit's panel, forget his name... he's in a wheelchair, he was not impressed with pony boy Edwards' remark after Reeve's death!
Anyway, that's my take... and I'm sticking to it! :)
