Okay, it's agreed, You will not support Allen, because he supports the "leftist anti-gun agenda." Yeah, he's just like Hilary (who will be your president if one-issue folks like you stay home; and if she's president, then you will know what that leftist anti-gun agenda really is).
You know, it really is true: The extreme gun-rightists are equivalent to the extreme abortion-rightists. If anyone comes forth with a variation on the way things are done (say, you're not allowed to have your own 125-foot guard tower with six 50-cal machine guns on it...in a residential neighborhood), you start freaking. Slippery slope! They want all our guns! It's just the first step!
No, we cannot have 12-year-olds letting their parents knowing that they're having abortions! It's just the first step! Slippery slope! They want all women's right to choose!
The issues couldn't be more different, but the dynamics, and levels of illogical hysteria, often reach parity.
I regard the Second Amendment as a "litmus test" on a polotician's perspective of the Bills of Rights and Original Intent.
If a politician is willing to compromise on it, he will compromise on other rights.
I don't consider that a radical stand.
Not do I know of any gun rights activits who support what you are stating.
The "Assault Rifle Ban", lawsuits against gun manufactureres, "smar-gun" laws, >50 caliber weapon bans, etc. are unacceptable infringements of the Second Amendment. Thye are incremnetal attacks on a baisc humna right - i.e. the right to keep and bear and arms and defend oneself. The Constitution doesn't "grant" this right - Gid does. The Constitution meerely recognizes that right.
I'm still not clear on Allen and gun rights.
