ANOTHER UPDATE: You can see a more complete statement on CNN's homepage -- click the "Netscape responsible for Bush photo insult" link at the top right. But since that's a java box and can't be directly linked, and probably won't be archived anywhere, I'm going to reproduce the full thing in the "extended entry" area below. Hit "read more" to read it.Read More »

Netscape responsible for Bush photo insult
Disparaging image tags used to identify photos of President and Mrs. Bush currently circulating on the Internet were not created, disseminated or posted by CNN at any time, as is alleged. They were done by a junior-level employee of Netscape and posted on Netscape.com. CNN had no knowledge of this until it surfaced on other Web sites.
Netscape, which corrected the situation when it was discovered, has released a statement apologizing for the "inappropriate and disparaging terms" that were used in the image tags -- and saying that the company has terminated the employee.
So there you are.
Originally exposed on FR today.
The Pajama warriors keeping the Old media honest once again..
I bet that employee was a temp, so no really big statement by netscape. Just a hunch.
Actually, Freepers found it last night around 9PM PST!
Yeppers.
Hope we keep scaring the sh*t out of them ...
I want the MSM looking at every question (but ask only one question at a time!) and at every hone call they from the democrats during every debate and during every election ......
They'll learn....people are watching them now.
Just goes to show....I spend so much time here, I lose track of it!
FR caught the Houston Chronicle pulling a similar stunt about a month ago. It was that pic of the little girl with the pigtails put up in a "W" shape. The link to it was something like \\image\brainwashedgirl. After a few pajamagrams in the Chronicle's email box, they changed it.
While I take their word that CNN itself had nothing to do with this (it would be moronic for them to do that), it's disengenuous for them to totally disassociate themselves with Netscape. They are sister companies. AOL bought Netscape before AOL and Time Warner (CNN's parent) merged.

If the work was done at any of the WarshDC Metropolitan Area NETSCAPE or AOL facilities (there are many), it's surprising her body didn't just show up at Fort Marcy Park.
Good. I hope he chuckles himself blue sitting around all day watching Oprah trying to figure out how he's going to pay his bills.
Because of Bush, another worker is out of a job ...
Glad he was fired. Now can someone figure out how to ''fire'' Michael Moore?
tell me about it - I'm still trying to ween myself after election night
Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING
