Look, I would agree with you absolutely if she were in private life, or even if her husband was running for an office less important than that of the leader of the free world.

We have had a very narrow escape indeed. I was watching Kerry's speech in the dentist's office while my son was having his teeth cleaned, and the hygienist and I both looked at each other after she stumbled in and Kerry left her down below the stage and both said simultaneously, "Is she DRUNK?" It was that obvious.

I think a large part of the irritation we all feel is that the fact that she is obviously, publicly, pathetically drunk or drugged and out of control was never even questioned or touched upon by the news media. Contrast that to the microscopic exam that Bush and his wife and (especially) his daughters got from the news media.

I think in Mrs. Ford's day the press was marginally more restrained in dealing with family members (although Lord knows they were pretty hard on Pres. Ford re his supposed clumsiness, etc.) Moreover, IIRC Mrs. Ford was NOT a loud and publicly intoxicated person, she belonged to the generation that assiduously concealed its drinking. I don't recall her ever making a scene in public (although it just may be that I didn't talk to the right people.)

Anyhow, I don't think too many on here are gloating, just contemplating the narrow escape that we had -- no thanks to a news media that was in the tank for Kerry and refused to investigate any of the MANY problems with his public and personal life.

Talk about her ideas and despicable word/compurture, talk about her public behavior, and especially talk about the media's whoredoms, and I'm basically with you. Maybe you just didn't see what I saw yesterday, but I saw hateful gloating at her personal ruin.

Let the Donks hate people; let's stick with ideas, and let's love people.

...was never even questioned or touched upon by the news media.

Actually, the first hint that Teresa had a substance abuse problem was on FR (not a big surprise, I suppose) about a couple of months ago. I recall at the time that (1) it was convincing in the sense that it explained a lot of physical and verbal Teresa behavior, and (2) I had not heard a single peep about it from the MSM. It had about 30 responses in the same vein at the time I viewed it. So right then I took the time to do a google search and a FR search and found it interesting that I could not come up with anything. It seemed to be yet another FR scoop.

I went back to try to find that FR article, but I couldn't (perhaps someone else can?). However, I did find this one (from Carl L. at NewsMax), which seems roughly the same time frame, although not the same article I recall... maybe NewsMax scooped it even earlier than FR, from the tone of it...
