Sweet.
All this time, I thought it was The Hartford Courant's backing of the President that put Bush over the top.
That's a serious issue. As much as I found the Democratic congressmen to be obstructionist, belligerent and misleading, I think that some credit is due to those Democrats and Democratic newspapers that crossed party lines -- although disagreeing with President Bush on many domestic issues -- to support him in the war on terror.
Ron Silver, Ed Koch, the NY Daily News, The Hartford Courant and (unfortunately precious few) others deserve our respect, and should not be lumped together with Dasschle, McAuliffe and the rest of that awful crew.
How does that translate into policy? I have no idea.
