11A. Pebble-bed reactors. Safe, cheap, quick to build, easy to maintain. Smaller than "regular" nuke plant, looks just like any other industrial building. . .

To ensure that we win most elections from now on, a national picture ID voter card with an electronic/magnetic swipe that only works once and only at your precinct.

THIS MUST BE DONE WHILE WE CONTROL THE WHITE HOUSE AND BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS.

Develop a national standard for voting machines, laws, and processes.
Make it a mandatory ( 10 years in prison for voter fraud & $ 10,000 fine ).

Yes, and a requirement that all electronic voting machines produce two paper records of the vote: one kept by the precinct for the purpose of recounts and vote confirmation, and one to be issued to the voter as a receipt.

instead, consider asking what we can do to help Bush. I will say this - go out and spend alot of money on Xmas gifts to help our economy. Bush has some economic challenges facing him in 2005.

I am putting my money where my mouth is - its going to be a bigtime Xmas in my household this year.

Great point. It would be nice if you could double check your tally on the internet so they know your watching.

I would love to see term limits for senators and reps. Change reps to 6 year terms, same as senators, and limit to no more than 2 terms, ever.

Re gay marriage, it just seems far far down on the list of priorities. It's good for showing how "different" the other side is, good for organizing, but I can't see spending a lot of political capital and time on it, when we have so many other things to do. A second-term president has to get cracking in the first two years, and we have a golden window with Congress right now. If we focus on security and the tax code, and actually get results, I think we'll put an end to these squeaker elections. There are plenty of people we think of as "blue staters" and rats and liberals who are really just voters who have bought into an outdated line of thinking; if we demonstrate that the line of thinking is empirically wrong, if they see the dollars in their wallets and other reforms working, that will speak volumes to them. But if we spend a year or two debating what people do in their bedrooms... well, it's not like we're going to put an end to that behavior. I guess I'm more in the Cheney camp on this issue, and I think a lot of Republicans are, which is one reason Kerry's remark in the debate backfired on him.

Absolutely right! With all the garbage we put up with from the Left, a little celebration is in order.

Bush needs to attack this aggressively before the "lame duck" label and the 2008 campaign get going. IOW, if he doesn't get these done by 2006, they probably won't happen this decade.

He's got the mandate and he's got the majorities (though not filibuster-proof in the Senate). If now isn't the time to "go for it", when will it be?

You've got two years to make your mark, George. Make the most of it.

I disagree -- and the electoral evidence supports my position. This IS the time to put this issue to rest. The people have spoken loudly in favor of banning homosexual marriage, even in liberal Oregon.

Not only do the Republicans now have the momentum, but few Demoncrats will be willing to put their necks out to block this for the now marginalized homosexual lobby.

As for what people do in their bedrooms, don't mix apples and oranges. A "Marriage Amendment" is not a ban on homosexuality or private sexual practices. It is a determined effort by society to reaffirm and protect the most important cultural tradition ever established by civilized man: that marriage is vital for the promotion, protection, and raising of families and children.
