This isn't about the Civil War and the original poster was just having a good time. The fact of the matter is that the south provided 161 of 270 the electoral votes needed.
The population shift to states like Florida, Georgia and North Carolina have made the south more important than ever. In fact, those three states now have more electoral votes that California.
Florida is far larger than any northern state besides NY and North Carolina and Georgia are barely behind Michigan in size (15 to 17) and quickly catching up to OH, IL and PA.
There is no "Party of Lincoln". The parties have changed and morphed so much over the years that they just can't be compared to something 150 years ago.
Be proud of your state, but know that the strength of this nation is now in the southern and western states. The North East and much of the mid-west is totally irrelevant to the GOP due to population shifts and union reliance.

There is no "Party of Lincoln". I thought that you southern types were big on heritage? Well the GOP is proud to be The Party of Lincoln and I see no reason to change that identifier.
