The GOP today is the party of Goldwater and Reagan.

Both of whom were proud to be members of The Party of Lincoln. Sorry, if you don't like the name. Maybe the Democrats The Party of Jefferson Davis will take you back.

Both of whom were proud to be members of The Party of Lincoln.

And both of whom had political beliefs that were exactly opposite of Lincoln's on virtually every issue.

TAXES:
Reagan/Goldwater - favored massive income tax cuts
Lincoln - favored massive tariff hikes and the first income tax

MONETARY POLICY:
Reagan/Goldwater - Free-market/monetarist persuasion
Lincoln - interventionist fiat money manager

WELFARE HANDOUTS:
Reagan/Goldwater - opposed welfare handouts
Lincoln - favored massive land giveaways to the poor

GOVERNMENT PROJECTS:
Reagan/Goldwater - opposed wasteful big government spending
Lincoln - favored "internal improvement" pork barrel expenditures

TRADE:
Reagan/Goldwater - free market and free trade
Lincoln - heavy protectionism

ECONOMICS: Reagan/Goldwater - guided by Adam Smith, the Austrian school, and the marginal theory of pricing
Lincoln - guided by Henry Carey, Hamilton, and the marxist labor theory of value

GOVERNMENT STRUCTURE:
Reagan/Goldwater - favored the restoration of state federalism and state's rights
Lincoln - the great centralizer
