Why exactly do you regard this as a nightmare? Having an orderly guestworker program is a way of making the changes in immigration enforcement needed to combat terrorism politically feasible: having economic migrants from Mexico here legally lets us keep tabs on them, gets rid of their incentive to sneak across the border, and lets us pick up everyone sneaking across without the Hispanic and falsely-so-named 'civil liberties' lobbies getting a judge to shut down the stricter enforcement.

Why exactly do you regard this as a nightmare?

The nightmare is the usurpation of the existing laws. It is the supplanting of the American culture with an hispanic culture. It is the lack of respect to America and her citizens. It is realization by these "immigrants" that some in our govt. will support them in their desire to "steal" benefits and medical care from the U.S. taxpayer. It is the idea that people can come here from another country un-announced and un-documented and we reward them!!!

Is that enough?

The problem is a guest worker program won't work with out a total overhaul of the entire immigration system, which the President nor Congress will do.

Under the current proposal the President has put to Congress, all the illegals in the US get worker visas.

OK, fine. Now; each and every one of those workers has to be employed under our current laws. That means employers will have to pay minimum wage and all the taxes, ect that goes along with hiring someone legally.

Since there will be no strict enforcement of employer sanctions and the border is not sealed, employers will continue to hire the hundred of thousand illegal aliens that continue to stream across the border.

So, not only have you not fixed the problem, you’ve made it worst.

The ONLY way to fix the immigration system is to SEAL the borders, enforce employer sanctions and then create a viable worker program. We also need Mexico to grow it’s middle class fast and police it’s border.

Speaking of Mexico, do you know what the Mexicans do when they find illegal Guatemalans sneaking across their southern border? They shot them. Yes, that’s a fact.
