The difference is there were 94 million U.S. people on the internet in 2000 and about 184 million U.S. people on the internet now. It's a lot harder to sppon feed people the party line now than before. It might be the same crap as before but the playing field is a little more level now.
But if we take Iowa, New Mexico, Nevada and Hawaii that's 21 votes = 270 w/o Ohio so best Kerry could do would be 269.
