Democracy: The U.S is about to join in the ranks of countries whose elections have been scrutinized by international observers on the theory that foreigners are more qualified than U.S. citizens to police U.S. elections.
Thought the U.S. is the greatest example of representative democracy the world has ever seen, election observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) have arrived.
They were invited by the State Department in an unfortunate attempt to neutralize an issue raised by a dozen Democratic congressmen the theory that the 2000 presidential was stolen and that, without them, the 2004 elections would be stolen as well.
The invitation is a national disgrace.
It would be one thing if they were here to watch and learn how a true democracy functions, though sometimes it seems like watching sausage being made. More than a few OSCE members could learn a few things. But they are here because ultraleft U.S. politicians believe French, German and Bulgarian poll watchers are better qualified and more honest than local yokels in Macomb County, Mich., or Dade County, Fla.
Foreign Election Observers Defend Florida Democrat's Leading Role (Alcee Hastings)
Foreign observers to treat U.S. like a third world delinquent [Alcee Hastings in charge!]
jimma carter thinks likewise. d-bag!
I dont know about you,but I will never consider kerry "my" President>
bottom line, the more foreign observers the better ... landing in the sweet air of american liberty is, for many, unreal and sweet.
Too many Europeans simply gag from birth onward. Some of the antecdotal reports about how surprised these people are about our elections bodes well indeed for the seeds they may plant back home. At worst, their visit should neutralize their anti american rants a bit...
