Hopefully you folks in the 3rd Congressional district can get rid of Dennis Moore this time around.

We'll see. Moore was up by 12 in the only poll I saw two weeks ago. There's been a big turnout in Johnson County. Could be Moore supporters, could be Kobach supporters, could be because of the Bi-State tax on the ballot.

Havent voted yet but had a great experience at the dentist office. REALLY. Was doing paperwork, wearing *W* 2004 cap, there was 1 other person in the waiting room, tall thin Gent who looked about 70. When I finished my paperwork he asked me if I had voted yet and I said no, I was at work at 5:00 this morning so I'd go this evening. Said he had voted absentee. He commented on my hat. Pulled a photocopy of a picture from his wallet, said "this is who I voted for".The picture was of him with W and Laura.

I asked what the occation was, he said he was at the dedication of the WWII memorial, he was in the same unit as Laura's father.(..goose bumbs..) He was 81 years old. I gave him some positive thoughts regarding the last polls I'd seen and wished him a good day, wished I could spend an hour or two with him but had to get to work.

I live on a farm and drove into town. There was no line. The pencil worked fine too. Just fill in the bubble. Of course, there are no Democrats in the county, just those that get lost when they get off the highway. We are real nice to them and point East or West back towards the coasts or the city.
At night you can see the seasons change by the stars. Sometimes I hate to mention it, others might want to move here too.

Johnson County (Olathe) got there at 6:40 and there was already a long line and it took me an hour to go through and vote. When I left the line was about one third longer than when I got there!

Well Kobach managed to do something I thought I would never live to see. He lost Johnson County to a Democrat. He also lost the other two counties and the election by about 10 percentage points.

The problem is that Moore is a Democrat from Johnson county. Of course the dems win the vote in Wyandotte and Leavenworth.

For the first time that anyone can remember, Moore won in Johnson County as well, 50% to 48%. He took about 70% of the Wyandotte vote and 68% of the Douglas County vote (Leavenworth is in the 2nd District) Kobach ran a really, really bad campaign and paid the price for it.

Do you think Koback was hurt by the close primary? From what i hear this may have been the problem. I don't live in the Kansas anymore so i forgot that the 3rd was readjusted. With Douglas Co in the mix (read: Liberal KU professors and brainwashed students) it might be hard for a Rep to win.

It didn't help, although the last two primaries before that were close and the Republican only lost by 2 or 3 points. This time Kobach lost by 11.

Republicans lose because the moderate and conservative wings of the party trash each other in the primary, leaving Moore rested and flush with cash for the general election. In this election Kobach ran farther to the right than any other candidate has done, believing that the conservative base would carry him to victory. He apparently badly overestimated the size of his base. He alienated conservative Democrats, independents, and moderate Republicans who all went for Moore in droves.
