Why do these GOP types quote external polls when I thought they discounted those and focused instead on their internal polls? I have noticed that Cheney and Rove both refer to the external polls. Aren't they supposed to know something we don't?

My guess would be that you refer to the internals only when they are different (and more favorable) than the externals, and you refer to the externals when they confirm what the internals are saying. But that's just a guess.

The B&C camp isn't going to give the details of their internal date to the public.

The public polls are for mass consumption. If those polls, which aren't nearly as good as internals, demonstrate a break towards the President it's cause for an upbeat attitude.

It means they don't have to allude to internal polls mysteriously because the public polls are starting to finally project something closer to what they have anticipated.

It's because you can't dispute external polls with "internal" evidence. It sounds stupid. It sounds like you are losing . . . which the Dems are!!!
