You don't want to upset the "Religion of Peace." They get real mad and violent.

On the Dutch LPF forum I see that some one mentions that they also heard on the police-scanner that the killer had 'an islamic appearance'.

This murder was brought to you by:

the religion of peace and tolerance

Slowly, slowly the backlash is building. New parties will rise in Europe, that answer the people's wishs.

Dutch Filmmaker Theo Van Gogh Murdered

"A Dutch filmmaker who had criticized the treatment of women under Islam in a movie and in newspaper columns was shot dead Tuesday outside a city government office in Amsterdam, police said."

snip

"Theo van Gogh, 47, has often come under criticism for his controversial movies. In December, his next movie "06-05," about the May 6, 2002 assassination of Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn, is scheduled to debut on the Internet."

Hang in there 'hawk.

Wait till they knock off a few Hollywood directors for putting too much sex in their movies. Or maybe Barbara Striesand for being too jewish. I guess then the libs will still call them misunderstood.

There's no question as to the motive, it appears (religion of peace, blahblahblah):

A Dutch film-maker who received death threats after making a movie criticising the treatment of women under Islam was murdered in an Amsterdam street today.

A suspect, a 26-year-old man with dual Dutch-Moroccan nationality, was arrested after a shoot-out with officers that left him wounded, police said.

Theo van Gogh had been threatened after the August airing of his film, Submission, which he made with a right-wing Dutch politician who had renounced the Islamic faith of her birth. Van Gogh had received police protection after its release.

In a recent radio interview Van Gogh dismissed the threats and called the movie “the best protection I could have. It’s not something I worry about”.

Police said Van Gogh’s killer shot and stabbed his victim and left a note on his body. They declined to comment on reports that Van Gogh’s neck was slashed.

Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende called on the Dutch people to remain calm and not to jump to conclusions.

In a report by Dutch national broadcaster NOS, an unidentified witness who lives in the neighbourhood said she heard six shots and saw the suspect concealing a gun. She said he walked away slowly, spoke to someone at the edge of the park, and then ran.

She said he was wearing a long beard and Islamic garb and appeared to be either an Arabic man or someone disguised as a Muslim.

Another unidentified witness told Dutch Radio 1 the killer arrived by bicycle and shot Van Gogh as he got out of a car. “He fell backward on the bicycle path and just laid there. The shooter stayed next to him and waited. Waited to make sure he was dead.”

In a written statement, the prime minister said, “Nothing is known about the motive.

“I want to call on everyone not to jump to far-reaching conclusions. The facts must first be carefully weighed so let’s allow the investigators to do their jobs,” he said.

Police declined to comment on the possible motive or to give further details.

Police spokesman Eric Vermeulen said the attacker fled to the nearby East Park, and was arrested after exchanging gunfire with police. Both the suspect and a policeman suffered minor injuries.

This individual Van Gogh did not deserve this ending; I've surfed the net, finding him a portly fellow. If you surf google images, quite a few images come up.

I assume the writer was a Somali woman. We have a lot of Somalis here because of the wars in Somalia; it may be Moslem vs. Moslem. Then, in Sudan, Arab Moslems against Black African Moslems, at least in part it appears. If I am not correct, anyone can feel free to correct me.

I don't know the film but a film against domestic violence certainly could be a noble undertaking.

There must be much more to this story. What a tragedy.

Locals claim the assassin looked like "a Muslim" and that a letter was left on Van Gogh's body. The letter allegedly had Islamic text, but this has not been confirmed.

Islam-list

If people want on or off this list, please let me know.

Islamic justification of this murder:

From the koran:

017.033
YUSUFALI: Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law).
PICKTHAL: And slay not the life which Allah hath forbidden save with right. Whoso is slain wrongfully, We have given power unto his heir, but let him not commit excess in slaying. Lo! he will be helped.
SHAKIR: And do not kill any one whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, We have indeed given to his heir authority, so let him not exceed the just limits in slaying; surely he is aided.

So you can kill anyone if it's for a just cause. What is a just cause? The hadith tells the story of a Jewish poet who, just like Theo van Gogh, insult islam, allah and his messenger:

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 369:
Narrated Jabir Abdullah:
Allah's messenger said "Who is willing to kill Ka`b bin al-Ashraf who has hurt Allah and His apostle?" Thereupon Maslama got up saying, "O Allah's messenger! Would you like that I kill him?" The prophet said, "Yes". Maslama said, "Then allow me to say a (false) thing (i.e. to deceive Ka`b). The prophet said, "You may say it."
