Now I've heard it all.
19-Bush, 7-Kerry.
Oh, you are right; it's late and I misread it: I just skimmed the last line of this paragraph!
In general elections, Dixville Notch went solidly for losers Richard Nixon in 1960, Barry Goldwater in '64 and, Hubert Humphrey in '68, then finally picked a winner with Nixon in '72, only to see him quit at midterm. In 1976, their choice was Michigan's Gerald Ford, who lost to Jimmy Carter. In 1980 and '84, they liked Reagan, as did most of the country. George H.W. Bush was their pick in 1988, but Dixville Notch didn't back another winner until George W. Bush in 2000.
UPDATE: AP is reporting that the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned the two Ohio district courts that were blocking Republican observers at the polls (story below):
CINCINNATI (AP) - A federal appeals court has cleared the way for challengers to be present at polling places in Ohio, ruling early Tuesday that their presence on Election Day is allowed under state law. A three-judge panel of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 to grant emergency stays of two federal judges' orders Monday that barred political parties' voter challengers in Ohio.
If Dixville voted for Humphrey, then I am a big fan of Ralph Nadar's economic policies.
In the rush to "fix" the problems from 2000, the stupid politicians forgot to do anything about poll watchers and candidate supporters; thus we have early voters with partisan hacks in their faces.

Dixville Notch picked GW Bush and Bill Bradley in the '00 _primary_...
This year: "Wesley Clark won Dixville with 8 votes. Sen. John Kerry had 3, Sen. John Edwards 2 and Howard Dean and Sen. Joe Lieberman 1 each... In balloting by Republicans, President Bush running unopposed received 11 votes in Dixville"

New Hampshire has bucked the trend of picking the winner in the primaries and the finals. If you go to Concord, right near the State House there's another State building which has tiles near the sidewalk which tell who won the state in a given year. In '92, it was Paul Tsongas in the NH Dem primary(but Clinton finished 2nd and proclaimed himself "the Comeback Kid") and Pat Buchanan was the Rep. winner.
NH PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY--not always picking the eventual nominee: In '84: Gary Hart beat On-The-Fritz Mondale (D)
In '00: McCain beat W (R)
In '96: Pat Buchanan beat Dole (R)
In '64: Henry Cabot Lodge beat Goldwater (R)
In 2000, statewide:
Bush-Cheney 273,559
Sore-Loserman 266,348 (had a few thousand more votes for Algore shown up, we would have had Algore running for re-election today)
I am reallyhoping Dixville Notch is a picture of the whole nation too!
Hey, give the News Cretins a break. Not much goin' on midnight election eve. Slow news hour.
Them people up there sure are easily amused. If they go to a rodeo once, just once...
The funny thing is that so many people from MA move to NH to get away from the high taxes. Then they vote for higher taxes in NH.
Southern NH is really a part of MA now.
It's the trend we're looking at... Bush lost 4, Skerry gained 4, from the last time (the two towns combined)...
Considering that Bush won by such a small margin last time, I think it's cause for slight concern.
Bush wins Dixville Notch and moves out to an early lead in
the state of New Hampshire at one second past midnight.
As Dixville Notch goes, so goes the Nation!
Will there be a RAT riot in the town? Call the cop!
yes, I do tend to enjoy sarcasm Scotty
I hope it is too .. and the dual theads about it was very confusing.
I think we have a bunch of trolls sneaking bad vanity threads into the mix.
